Obviously when our dollar was worth 68 cents US the price difference would made sense. But over the years as our dollar grew stronger they never adjusted their prices.

There are a few manufacturing reasons for slightly higher costs- different emission standards, different safety standards, but these costs would be very small.

Presently there is a class action law suit being brought against some of the car makers in Canada because of the higher prices.
Hopefully this will make them start to adjust their prices.
I've discussed this problem with a number of car enthusiast friends, and we've looked at everything from cost differentials to do varying 'standardization' issues all the way through to differing economies of scale (300M people vs. 30M people) - our collective conclusion was that there is simply NO justification for it, other than chewing on the public's hind end a little longer to make more revenue.
