I don't think the auto companies have really adressed WHY the prices are so much higher in Canada.
Obviously when our dollar was worth 68 cents US the price difference would made sense. But over the years as our dollar grew stronger they never adjusted their prices.
There are a few manufacturing reasons for slightly higher costs- different emission standards, different safety standards, but these costs would be very small.
Presently there is a class action law suit being brought against some of the car makers in Canada because of the higher prices.
Hopefully this will make them start to adjust their prices.
