I got a call from my Ford dealer today.
Thanks Jeff. I only mention the markup cause I've dealt with some real jerks in trying to get a GT500. Wanting 20k over for a used 07 GT500 and whatnot. I plan to call tomorrow to get the scoop locally. I also have some family checking in different areas of the country.
Ah-HA! $3310 US. That means NO way it will be $2200 CDN.
Calling Whammer... Where arrrre you?
Companies like Ford are not yet giving Canadians the benefit of our stronger dollar, so I would have to assume that the Bullitt package will still, sadly, sell for a little more here in Canada.

On the other hand, you do live in Hawaii, and that's extra points.
There's lots of confusion going on at the moment. I was at my dealer yesterday putting down a deposit.
He showed me a memo he received. It lists the Bullitt package at $4,495CAN. But when he gets on the order screen it's $2,200CAN.
As of yesterday you could not yet place orders. So once it goes live we should get a better understanding of what's going on.
And yes Hollywood- as Canadian's we are getting screwed over by the car makers. Something has to give soon. I live fairly close to the US border and Canadian dealers are losing a ton of business to the US.

At the end of the day, if they don't do something about it, Ford of Canada will simply lose more and more revenue.
I called Ford of Canada yesterday and spoke with a service rep. She told me they are looking at the pricing issues. She said they are keep track of complaints in a effort to see how much of an issue it is with consumers. So I would urge you to call Ford and complain. Here's their number-
1-800-565-3673.

I don't advocate not buying from your local dealer, but he has to come to the table too. They like to make/save money, and so do you! What would he do? If he's reasonable, he'll understand your situation and do something that makes sense for you both. Just hang tight for now. I'm sure the picture will look better down the road.
Next week is correct for Orders
My dealer advised (while I was ordering last week) that Bullit option was showing -- but is Job 2 deal. They are supposed to gear up this week and start Job 2 orders by the 15th. The computer would show the option but not give a price. Some question as to whether or not CS will go after Job 2 is running. Apparently Sync is being added to other vehicles with Job 2 this year -- but not Mustang.
Re: X-plan. The dealer I'm dealing with seems willing to accept X plan. Right now the base Bullitt is $39, 844. Not sure what it will be with Xplan- I'll find out next week-maybe. The dealer said Conceps (whatever that is) is not accepting orders until Dec. 3.

Ford corporate really is brain dead in several key respects.
Hey Whammer. Just wondering about your CDN price for the Bullitt. Almost $40,000 for a base model? Yikes!!! That's quite a difference between the stated USD price of $31,000 !! And the Canadian dollar is presently worth more than the US dollar (approx. 8% more). What exactly is their explaination for that? Do they expect you to pay the Canadian price when there is such a difference? Also, you said they wouldn't accept Canadian orders in CONCEPS (their ordering system) until December 3rd? I think this falls in line with Job#2 for the car and also to allow for any production changes that may be neccesary.
Also Whammer, just checked out the Ford of Canada media site and searched a little further on the pricing issue. Ford claims that "exciting news with regards to pricing and special offers" is coming in November. Hopefully that'll include the Bullitt. We'll see how serious they are on this matter. I also fired off an e-mail for 'ya to HQ. Maybe this is just their annual Winter Sale or something. Let's see if they come to the plate.
I don't think the auto companies have really adressed WHY the prices are so much higher in Canada.
Obviously when our dollar was worth 68 cents US the price difference would made sense. But over the years as our dollar grew stronger they never adjusted their prices.
There are a few manufacturing reasons for slightly higher costs- different emission standards, different safety standards, but these costs would be very small.
Presently there is a class action law suit being brought against some of the car makers in Canada because of the higher prices.
Hopefully this will make them start to adjust their prices.
