I was thinking someone else had to know about this, when I asked today they told me that there were between 8000-10000 owners and general managers in Detriot. So obviously these 2 guys aren't the only ones that have seen the car.

Very cool, we now have confirmation! All that's left besides cost is to see a picture and a solid list of what options are included in the package.

Man I feel like a kid the day before Christmas!

Ford now confirms that the Bullitt was there, after i asked again. But they have told me that it was present in some special room where no cameras were allowed, and no pictures are available for release now. I'm not sure why they are constantly holding back but its getting me a bit steamed, they should just show us the car and get it over with instead of all the secrecy.

Well, I guess a guy can dream can't he? And you're probably right about the R&D for only 7000 units. It would just be sooooo great to see them shoehorn the 5.4 liter from the 2000 Cobra R into this special model. I'd be a very happy guy..............................

All the cars were in the same area, but I'm sure that's what they are referring to. I don't think any cameras were allowed back there.

I'll try to explain the layout of the cars as it was explained to me. There was a dinner at Ford Field and have the stadium was blocked off with those big curtains behind a huge stage. After the CEO gave his thoughts and speech, he asked everyone to follow him up on the stage and back behind the curtains. This area is what they called the "salon". As you came off the back end of the stage into this "salon" area where all the cars were set up, the BULLITT was straight back behind the bar on a rotating platform. I have a feeling this is the special area they are talking about. All of these 2008 models were not on display the whole week, just after dinner one night when the CEO spoke.

Chris Connors, my friend who went to Detroit is a stock broker specializing in auto dealerships, and Chris Price of Price Ford in Millington, TN was a guest speaker at the event which is the main reason that Mr. Connors got to go. Connors can't quit talking about the silver GT500KR with blue stripes, that car obviously blew him away, and the private tours of the factory and Henry Ford's home. The more I hear about this trip the more I envy them both.

Whats even more amazing is the fact that more people have seen this car then normal. It and the 2010 was at the car show Ford put on for the employees last year. I seen both cars there. (Don't ask, don't PM, I will not tell anything about the cars. I can loose my job if I do.) Everyone who has been lucky enough to see the car has been very good about keeping quiet. I'm very surprised.

Yes I was impressed with the look of the car, but what makes the last bullitt so good was the whole package. HP bump, Torque Bump, new suspension, ect. I have to wait like you guys to see what they do with the rest of the car and how it all turns out.

I have one question which is the most important factor to base my decision to wait or not and that is the double vent hood. Real or not? If you can answer without any problem for you I would greatly appreciate it.

If they were proud of it, they'd be showing pictures already. They already suspect the Mustang enthusiasts won't particularly like it. I think the description from the guy who saw it summed it up best >>

He was underwhelmed.
Not wanting to rain on anyone's parade, but it does seem as if the writing is on the wall with this car. It's the only reason I didn't wait for one.

If ya wanna see rain, George, wait till the car is unveiled. The deluge you experience will be the flood of tears from ye Mustang faithful after getting their first look at this new Bullitt.

No vented hood, no power increase (of note)...and a few off-the-shelf FRPP parts (including the ubiquitous CS fascia stuff).

Course, that's just my 2 cents, which is worth about, well, 2 cents.

All of this talk about how "BAD" this car is reminds me of 2001 when the 01 Bullitt came out. Exactly the same discussions about the car. Not enough HP increase, just a GT with green paint, etc.... Nice to know that the 01 actually had 15 more HP over a stock GT. (Thanks Scott Hoag for that tidbit.) All of the negative talk was one of the main reasons IMBOC was created.

I do agreee with Scott Hoag while he was discussing the 08 that it has to have the "soul" that the 01 has. Without that it truely will not be a great car. For those that have never experienced a Bullitt it does have something that most can't put into words....

As for the secrecy, Ford has changed over the last few years and is holding employees accountable for any type of leaks not approved from on high. No one wants to rsik losing their job over a picture. With the current financial issues it wouldn't take much to get fired at this point. The last few releases have been guarded and no pictures were released on some models at all.

On the other side of that I have heard they are still working on the drivetrain and will not release it until it is production ready. The look of the car is complete just suspension, drivetrain tweaking is needed. LA is still the reported debut site. Press day is the 16th of November......
