Buillitt shifter

I don't know if this has been posted yet, but the Bullitt shifter features a more rigid assembly and improved bushings which delivers a much improved shift feel over the shifter that debuted on the 05 mustangs.

Good to know! It's been discussed by those lucky few who've driven one how much better it feels than the stock GT, but nobody knew exactly what was changed. Wonder if that would be a worthwhile retrofit to an '08 GT?

It is amazingly smooth. I put about 15 miles on during a test drive. This is a pix of the one I used.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it the FRPP (Hurst) shifter?

I've heard it isn't. I also read that all '08 GTs, at least job 2, get the same

Interesting. The older one wasn't terrible. I wonder what improvements were made?

yup I can attest to that...I keep a towel in the car to toss over the shifter when I'm not driving.
Oh and George glad to see you still have the shelby avatar up

The shifter is not from FRPP. It is the same shifter on the 08' GT. It has a more rigid assembly and improved bushings, so you get a better shift feel instead of that sloppy joe feeling.

Is the Bullitt shift **** coated with plastic to cut down on the burnt hands? (like the interior upgraded shifter on the 05+)
or is it direct contact with metal like the old one?

I've asked 05stangKC to post part catalog pics of this new shifter so we can see the engineering changes.

Not according to Ford. It's classified as a "satin aluminum shift ball".

I think they've used the aluminum shift **** as a link to teh '01. It would have been better to use a white shifter like the FRPP one.

Personally I don't like the white shift ball inside the Mustang, it's incongruous as all get out - there's no white anywhere else. The steel looks great. But I'm sure the white ball feels a lot better - I've got the steel shifter from the Interior Upgrade Pack (IUP) and that thing is like grabbing ice in the winter.

Awesome, I may get over the looks of it just so I don't freeze/burn my hand off.
