7400 Bullitts Allegedly To Be Made

From a post over at IMBOC >>

Updates from another one of my 'sources.' (FMC Financial Analyst)

- The 'Bullitt' IS actually there at Cobo

- 7,400 units to be produced

- 325 HP

- A new 'Fairlane' is there

- The redesigned Focus (hot looking) is there. Many have told me about this one.
325 HP would suggest incorporation of the Ford Racing Power Pack, which would make sense, I suppose, since it is already good to go.

Thumbs up Bullitt Hood...

I've been communicating with someone reliable who attended the reveal at Cobo and saw the forthcoming Bullitt. I asked this person about whether or not the '08 Bullitt has a fake hood scoop or not (for those who are interested). This was the reply >>

NO fake hood or side scoops on the Bullitt.

They are trying to duplicate the original a little closer...which was what I think they accomplished.
I take that to mean that the forthcoming Bullitt will get a hood that bears some sort of resemblence to McQueen's original '68 GT390.

Is this an allegation or is there an independent, unbias, and professional confirmation? Is there a signed collaboration statement? Is it notarized? Are there reputable attorneys involved? Did the so called "source" take a lie detector test? Did he sweared to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help him the Bullitt Guardians?

No, but this ain't IMBOC, either, so it's all gonna be OK, George.

Is that 7400 number close to what was released for the '01 versions?

And, the more important question, will that # lead to ADMs?

And, most importantly, will I be able to get one w/out paying through the nose, and assuming I don't jump on one come 12/3/07?

I was hoping to pick one up in early '08, will I even have a chance if I wait?

'01 production: projected 6,500 units, the actual was 5,582 most which were DHG.

Dealers will always take advantage with every Mustang model which comes out specially when they are first produced.

5582 Bullitt's were built in 2001.

3041 DHG
1818 Black
7xx True Blue

ADM's? You can pretty much bet on it, There were ADM's in 2001 and the Bullitt snuck up on dealers then. They likely won't miss the boat to rip off the public yet again. (read Bullitt, Mach 1, Terminator, GT 500, Shelby GT... do I really need to continue?)

Personally, I am dissapointed

1. Having Ford do the Bullitt again, as they have so many other great names that could be brought back.

2. Another Bullitt will dilute the collectiblity and exclusiveness of the 2001.

3. A LOT seems to have been left on the table with this

But we'll all find out soon enough i guess.

From whose perspective would that be?

Perhaps for those with the Barrett-Jackson mentality certainly it will not be from the original owners, most which found subsequent Mustang models more appealing and no longer have their Bullitts.

I still have a hard time with Ford taking the rather expensively engineered airbox and all its bits off the car and still having it meet standards.

All things are possible, but if all they needed was a heat shield and a large cone air filter, how much could they save a year?

Like 100 million global?

Hmmmmm, I wonder if Ford could enjoy the same ADM success on the entire rest of its lineup as it does on the Mustangs?

That might turn things around once and for all.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

1 BULLITT,

I would tend to disagree just a little, a good portion of the original owners still have their 01 bullitts. I will freely admit that I bought into the "one time only" crap from Ford when I purchased #1562. But at the same time, the announcement of another Bullitt did influence my decision to move on to the Roush.

I had no issues with my Bullitt and really enjoyed the car, I fortunatey at the time had another car to drive around in an was able to keep the Bullitt in the garage a good deal of the 4.5 years that I had it, and made a great many friends by having it.

I tend to like drive cars that you don't see everyone else driving and I really enjoyed that aspect of the Bullitt, but if another is built, that reduces my enjoyment a little bit.

I tend to be a bit of a non-conformist anyway, and there are not to many ways to set one self apart anymore. (without getting into a whole lot of trouble anyway)

I remember hearing or reading that the '01s were approx. %5 premium over a reg GT (excluding ADM I'm assuming)?

If that's true, what can I expect to actually have to pony up for one of these (can't imagine they'd charge over the Shelby GT - $35K, right)?

Neither did I. I kept mine for four years and enjoyed every time I turned on the ignition or just stared at it. One of the reasons I sold it was I had a gut feeling there would be another version, it was logical since the new generation is so similar to the original and the movie's 40th anniversary coming up. I came to the conclusion there was no way all parties involved would let the opportunity pass by and not take advantage of the events and history repeating itself.

There is no denying the Bullitt was very unique and the best GT up to that point but I found the '04 Cobra and the new gen GT to be more of what I wanted in a Mustang and so did many others starting with the introduction of the Mach 1. My point is the Bullitt has without question a place in Mustang history but as designs and performance evolves and improves the alternatives become more appealing otherwise all the Bullitts would still be in the possesion of the original owners.

The temptation of taking a step up and the grass being greener on the other side sometimes deludes one's personal sentiments. I miss mine no doubt, but have no regrets. I am sure you don't either.

The Bullitt edition was an additional $3,695 to the MSRP over the Deluxe GT. Deliveries started in March 2001. The ADMs ranged from $3 -5K for the first 6 - 8 weeks. By June it was not uncommon for sales to be $500 over invoice and there was a $1,500 rebate for all GTs which also applied to the Bullitt.

Times have changed and Ford dealers are eating crow. With the nostalgia of the most popular Mustang ever, the fanfare of being named after a movie with Steve McQueen no less, and combined with Ford dealers' poor sales, what do you think these scumbag low life trailer trash dealers will do?

Recently, every dealer I dealt with during my search for the GT500 brought up the topic of Carroll Shelby's eminent departure and how prices would go to Barrett-Jackson level if that unfortunate event would take place. Every single one of them, in one way or another. I for one, as well as other Mustang enthusiasts, have had our differences with Carroll Shelby but nowhere close to the dealers' thought process and lack of humanity. It's unimaginable.

With the 2008 Bullitt it will be no different. The Ford dealers would take Steve McQueen out of his grave and display his decomposed body in their showrooms if they could to make an extra buck.

Forget eating crow, rather see the greedy bastages eat $**t! Yeah, can't wait for the '08 Bullitt and the attendant ADM's. So much for that idea. Please keep an eye out for Steve McQueen's remains next time I visit a Ford dealership when the cars start reaching showrooms.

For those that do not frequent IMBOC, don't let a few ignorant people ruin the fun. Certain people at IMBOC won't let go of the fact that the car is going to be built whether they like it or not. Despite overwhelming factual evidence they will say it isn't going to happen up to the point the car rolls out at the chosen car show. One in particular is still hanging on to the fact that WB and Ford have not come to an agreement on the name license. I don't think two Ford execs openly stating that the Bullitt is coming would just fly off at the mouth without first geting approval. Ford is forcing employees to be very tight lipped and that is one reason we have not seen a picture yet.

Most of the 2001 Bullitt owners can't wait for the car to come out.

That's funny. Yeah, George and I noticed this a long time ago. I've even tried to point that out to certain people over there. Sadly, many of them live in FANTASY land, trotting out nonsense about litigations and legal wranglings between Ford on the one hand, and Warner Bros./the McQueen estate on the other.

Bottom line: Fields would never have officially announced a Bullitt if it were not a "done deal" between all parties. Things just don't work that way.
