2009 Bullitts confirmed today by Ford
Well, if Ford is going to produce the Bullitt for 2009, it is for a couple of reasons: The initial run didn't sell too well and Ford didn't realize the intended profit (remember that the US is headed or in a recession at present) in its first stamping OR (the main reason?) Ford is not ready to release the "new" SE, which was rumoured to be a Mach1 or Boss. Perhaps they want to release this model for 2010 as 2009 is a quick run. But Ford did say they would have a SE each and every year going forward. I doubt you'll see the 5.4 6 speed in a Bullitt. It's already offered in the GT500.......
I guess they should have allowed Canada more than the measly 700 that they were alloted. If they were building 7700 for the run and noticed it wasnt selling enough, they could have offered Canada more, then there wouldnt have had to be a 2009 Bullitt.
Unfortunately, Canada is not the broader market for this car. Ford will have a tough enough time selling the 700 they were originally alotted. Canada is big in space but small in sales. A dealer near me has two HG Bullitts sitting on their lot with minimal interest. My guess is they'll be there for quite some time. I think Ford is doing all it can just to sell the original 7700 units however they can. As much as I like the Bullitt, many others don't find it too appealing.
i don't have any skin this game but i do love the mustang..needed 4 doors...anyway, i see the bullitt as simply another option package; one HELL of an option package, but none the less, that's what it is to me. the fact that ford will offer the package in 09 is good news and as far as the bullitt not meeting sales expectations, well, regular gas in my neck of the woods is selling for 4.45/gallon plus another .25/gallon for premium. how many v8 engined cars do you think ford is selling at this point in time?

ps: i should add that other than the fuel management being recalibrated for premium, the bullitt is a homerun. i love the sleeper look and the machined turned dash. this would be the mustang i would most consider buying.

As I keep saying, I cant believe they skipped the premier trim option yet again. After having it in the 07, the standard dash/armrests drive me friggin nuts. If the 2010 doesn't have any major performance improvement, I'll order a DHG 09 at the last minute.
GM is building the new Camaro in Jan 09 and calling it a 2010 so Ford is doing the same with its facelifted Mustang. The cars are direct competitors and Ford didnt want to produce an 09 model Mustang into the summer of 09 if Chevy was producing a 2010 model during the same time frame. Rumors have it that the 2010 V8 Mustang power will be upped to 350-360hp range.
That makes sense with the timing of the build, however Lutz has stated the Camaro isn't in competition with the Mustang, GM has positioned it in a category above the mustang, which most likely translates into the Camaro will be priced higher than the Mustang.
Traditional Camaro buyers will see things differently obviously, and probably still pay the price.

People on the CamaroZ28.com board have been told by a GM exec. that the "premium" price Lutz has mentioned for the Camaro over the Mustang could be as little as $300. Make no mistake, the Mustang is the bullseye for Camaro Team. The Camaro will have IRS and OnStar standard. The V6 will be 300hp DI 3.6 from the Caddy. The base V8 will be 400-425 hp LS3 from the Corvette. GM realizes they cant price it equal to the same Mustang model with the added standard content. GM will wait to release the pricing after Ford prices the freshened/more powerful 2010 Mustang lineup.
Screaming Yellow was both 05 and 06. Mineral Gray and Sonic were the only 1 year colors, Mineral Gray was replaced by Tungsten in 06, and Sonic was replaced by Vista Blue. Legend Lime and Screaming Yellow went for 2 years, getting retired for the 07 model year.

in next SE model.
