2009 Bullitts confirmed today by Ford
The Bullitt package really is a great bargain
Yes and no. In general I disagree. Consider the guy who paid $10k over sticker for a limited edition car with the hopes that demand will be high and that he has a collector's item, only to find out that the representation that the production will be limited to 7,000 in the States was jettisoned by Ford and the production numbers will be open-ended. Might lead to a lawsuit: rescission would mean buying his car back from him.
No one wants to think they are getting something a little special and then see the same thing every time they turn around. Check with a lady friend about that great new dress she bought, and then sees two other ladies in it next time she goes out.

Besides Ford already makes that Mustang package

There were similar comments regarding the '01 Bullitts and how their value would be affected by a subsequent model. Road blocks in their way are the limitations are set by the parties who own the rights to the Bullitt name not the ones who purchased the cars. Besides, most of the existing '01s are not in possession of the original owners which most likely will be a similar scenario for the '08s a few years from now.

Agreed. I'm not ready to purchase just yet, but will be later this year. Having the ability to order an '09 Bullitt at that time is better than having to take my chances in finding an '08 equipped just the way I want at some point down the road on a dealers lot (assuming any would even still be available then).

I wouldn't worry to much, I have yet to see another GT/CS (haven't seen one bullitt), well except mine that is. I though the CS was a good deal too since I wanted the 18" Polished wheels which were 900 on a GT. So for 900 more I get a different front and rear fascia, kick a$$ two-tone interior and some fine looking stripes and a few other styling cues. I only wish there were more color choices for the GT/CS's.
No offense, but the front of the Giugiaro concept car is nice, but I can't stand the rear.

Well, if Ford is going to produce the Bullitt for 2009, it is for a couple of reasons: The initial run didn't sell too well and Ford didn't realize the intended profit (remember that the US is headed or in a recession at present) in its first stamping OR (the main reason?) Ford is not ready to release the "new" SE, which was rumoured to be a Mach1 or Boss. Perhaps they want to release this model for 2010 as 2009 is a quick run. But Ford did say they would have a SE each and every year going forward. I doubt you'll see the 5.4 6 speed in a Bullitt. It's already offered in the GT500.......

I'm not pleased that the Bullitt will be sold in 2009. I was hoping Ford would not even come close to producing 7,700 units making the car even more limited than anticipated. Correct me if I'm wrong but Ford did not produce the intended 6,000 units of 2001 Bullitts. 5,800 and change were made due to supplier issues. With the way dealers were trying to sell these Bullitts by adding $2-10K ADM, it sure looked like 7,700 units was impossible to achieve. Apparently it was impossible to achieve in one year.
So what does this mean to the highly anticipated Boss 302? Is this SE going to be released as a Generation II S197 in 2010?

This is the car business. Just buy a car based upon your desire to have a certain model/edition, and then enjoy it. Bragging rights, etc. only last until the next model year comes around and something better is being offered.
And no doubt, this is exactly what will happen. Ford does a very good job of making you want the next big thing. But of course the Bullitt was never intended to have broad appeal as it was a niche car to begin with. It will be interesting to see what's coming out next. Original rumours of the Boss were to see only 1000 units produced, but those numbers could quite easily be adjusted (and I think they will). Perhaps Ford's promise of a "new" Mustang every year is making people hold back, not to mention flood the market with too many "specialty" cars. Add in a recession, high fuel prices, cash-strapped consumers, and things can change quickly.

Shouldn't be a problem finding one equipped how you want... there's only a handful of options on the Bullitt anyway:
(1) green or black
(2) HID
(2.a) active alarm (required if HID)
(3) Navigation
(4) Locking wheel lugnuts
(5) Ambient Lighting
(6) Satellite radio
Everything else is standard and nothing else is optional.
EDIT: definitely agree on the rearend of the Guigaro... no wonder this is the first time I've seen pictures showing anything behind the rear wheels. I guess the design house had to give Ford something to change so it would be a feasible option?
