2008 Bullitt Buying quandary…
I went to the biggest Ford dealer in the world, so they say, and they were asking for $5k over sticker. They eventually came down to $1500 over, with a hint that they might be able to get approval for $1k over, but my local dealer was willing to sell me one at sticker that they have on order, either about 2 weeks out or another about 5 weeks out, depending upon what options I wanted.
I went online and checked dealer inventory in LA County and found the option package I wanted at a few dealers, and contacted them online. One internet sales manager responded right away with an offer at $1500 under sticker, and it was an early model with a base price $240 bucks less than the current base price, so I bought it the next day!
Of course, another dealer wanted $2k over sticker, and one idiot asked for $10,000 over sticker!

I understand if pressed that world's largest Ford dealer will come down to MSRP.
Have you registered your Bullitt here http://www.imboc.com/forums/index.php ?
Thanks Mike,
I like my choices, I also like black. Here is a picture of my off topic 2005 F-450.

I hope we can get the Bullit... After our little weekend road trip in the GT500 my wife seems to be on board with the Bullitt, We shall see.

That charge is included in the cost of all new cars
That charge is included in the cost of all new cars, and can be found on most invoices, the only reason most people don't know it is because most people tend to pay MSRP or above, that "mark up" more than pays for the 2 gallons of gas...

</o> You don’t actually expect a for profit company to give their products away at a loss do you? Or would you just prefer they not itemize the costs for you? Myself I would rather see it all itemized out.

Actually Test Drove a Black 2008 Bullitt Mustang today
Actually Test Drove a Black 2008 Bullitt Mustang today. It had some options I do not want, the navigation system, the satellite radio, & the ambient lighting. The wife really liked it. She said go ahead and order one for her. Here are a couple pictures.

Now we will see if we can still order one exactly to our liking…

Whether or not you are able to special order one to your liking, you certainly can find one with the exact equipment you want somewhere. I live in Los Angeles and was seriously thinking about buying one outside of Atlanta, Georgia, since I could fly one-way for about $130. I went on Ford's internet site and "built" the Bullitt I wanted and searched dealer inventory (you can check the "sticker" for each car) in ever widening circles. I emailed all the dealers where I found what I wanted to send me back their best price, and the responses ranged from $10k over sticker to $1500 under sticker!
Thanks,
Placed my order today, with my regular dealer. $1165 under MSRP.
If for some reason the order doesn't go through I will try finding it elsewhere as per your suggestion.
Thanks

Awesome! If I had it to do over again I think I would have waited and ordered as you have done. I bought one that had sat on the showroom floor for at least a couple of weeks and there were some issues with scratches and stuff that you shouldn't have when they unpack the new car just for you!
I think a fair number did on the first Bullitts to arrive in the dealerships. One dealer I contacted had sold their first Bullitt for $10,000 over sticker. Another sold several for $5000 over sticker, but that particular dealership sort of had first dibs (for customers like Chad McQueen, they say). Before I was able to locate one at sticker, and finally took one at $1500 under sticker, I was on the verge of traveling from LA to Atlanta to get one at $2k over sticker. That guy said the other dealerships were calling him to buy it at $2000 over sticker in order to resell it for more than that!
However, now that there is a fair supply currently available, and the hard-core types that HAD TO BE FIRST to get the Bullitt are out of the way, the demand is lower and the dealers are having to be somewhat reasonable. I'm guessing that, when the production run is over and the dealers see that they are taking delivery on the last Bullitt they are going to get, a good deal is going to be harder to find. I think the best deals are probably available right now, or in the very near future.

I know Galpin Ford was asking ADM, but they seem to have dropped to sticker pretty quick when pressed from what a couple of people who bought from them said.
There are MSRP and under deals out there, have been from the start. You did well with yours.

I have a 500 Horsepower 2008 GT500 that I ordered configured exactly how I wanted it. I paid $50,095 (Way under the average price) total for it, and somehow you have a problem with that? The $5000 ADM was a non-issue to me, I paid cash for my GT500 and it was money well spent with no regrets.
You on the other hand are the one who paid your good money for a new Mustang GT that wasn’t good enough for you. You then bent over and took it up the ..... to the tune of $500+ bucks on a tuner and intake, and $1000+ for some different wheels and tires, worse you bent over and paid 1200 extra dollars for 1/3 of your trunk to be filled with two speakers and an amp, Christ, you are almost up to my $5000 ADM and you still don’t have a GT500. Why are you worried about what I paid for mine?

Most of the feeding frenzy with regards to pricing of the Bullitt (and GT500 for that matter) is over. Demand drives pricing, and with the economy headed in the direction it is, it's a good time to be looking for most cars. I think you'll see plenty of Bullitts with no buyers in the near future which is a perfect time to be in the market for one. Many dealers are accepting way below MSRP for them right now and will be looking for offers on them soon enough. I like the Bullitt but am in the minority, as most want "the look" to go with their Mustang. This translates into a potential savings for the would-be-buyer. Be patient and it will come to you.
