'08 BOSS appearance package coming from Ford.

I met with our Ford Acessory rep today and he tells me Ford is coming out with a so called "BOSS" appearance package for the 08 and 09 Mustang GT's. Says he has seen the prototype and it is pretty much a blacked out hood, black hood scoop, side scoops, some other exterior enhancements, and a c-stripe on the side. Similar to the V6 appearnace package, but for the GT.

It doesn't sound like it will say BOSS on it since he described it as more a BOSS heritage package. Unfortunatley it has no performance enhancements, they are expecting dealers to put Ford racing power packs on it and enhance them how they want. Don't shoot the messenger but that is what he told me.

That sounds great but I wish it would have had a performance engine.

They want you to go to the dealer and have them install the Whipple from Ford Racing. Some people will always want the "look" but care less about the performance. JMO~

OH WELL ... that just blows another potential sale Ford could've made with me being a potential buyer. I'm not surprised; first the BULLITT and now the so-called "BOSS" ... (LMAO).

PARTSCHEAP ... Thank you for posting this info. on here. I can go ahead and divert my money ... AGAIN

AND NOOOOOOOOO ... they shouldn't put the BOSS name on what you've described because it wouldn't be worthy of the name, even with the WHIPPLE installed.

I don't see why they wont just go ahead and offer a factory SPRINT package instead if all they are going to do (again) is offer another appearance-only package ... ???

i know what the heck? why cant they just give us a real boss with a real engine and not destroy the "Special" aspect of it. anyone can now make theirs look like a boss now. not a good idea IMO. Ford will make money yes but the boss heritage will be damaged.

You will get your Boss(witha new engine). Just be patient. Until then, stripe away!

Let's just call this a GT appearance upgrade or somesuch. There's no sense in affiliating the "Boss" moniker with this package...

A Boss package of any kind should have higher displacement, and shouldn't just be a tack-on deal. Anything else would be a disgrace to the name. Take the 5.4L, tune it up, add some 3.73's and a drag oriented suspsion, along with the dress-up goodies. That's what the boss should be. A 5.0L Cammer would be better, but that's asking way too much.

Located one of what I think is a Saleen Parnelli Jones car here at a dealer not too far away. I'm going to try to get over there and drive it. Seems they've had it for a while. Looks like more of a "heritage package" than the traditional, but it has the Saleen 4.6 stroked to 5.0 engine. I'm sure it's going to be quite expensive.

They had 2 2008 BULLITT(s); one black and one green and a blue Shelby GT. The cost of the BULLITT cars were $38-K each, and the Shelby GT was $42-K with ADM(s).

They had several white GT/CS cars (all stick) but no ADM(s).

Kind of high for the 2008 BULLITT and 2008 Shelby GT.

Sounds like it will be artificially flavored.

Got tired of waiting for a Boss, bought a GT500. Ford missed the boat, bigtime. All they'd have to do is make a Boss the equal to the Rousch 427R. 400+ HP would sell the heck out of a Boss, IMO.
