Need some info in Shelby GT
Hi,
Im thinking of getting a Shelby. What is the difference between stock mustang GT and the Shelby GT? Does anyone who has one like it? Would you buy it again?
Im thinking of getting and Automatic. Also, can you get a GT500 in Auto trans?
Finally, can you get a Shelby GT in any color strip combo? I cant find good info anywhere on Shelbys - as Shelbys website is awful and cant find anything on Ford.com and the SVT website has old info - crazy...
Thanks

I'll be happy to answer some of your questions.
1st, the difference. I enclosed a link for you to see everything that is included with the Shelby GT package for 2008.
2008 Shelby GT information
As for color combos, if your going for a leftover 2007, your colors are either Performacnce White or Black, and both will have silver stripes. The black car will have black wheels. If your going with a 2008, the only color is Vista Blue with silver stripes. Auto is available for a Shelby GT, but no auto for a GT500.
I just sold one of these to a friend yesterday and he picked it up tonight. Its a nice looking car, and something that is special IMO. I drove it back from the dealer I got it from (had to dealer trade it). I covered the entire front with painters tape, so nothing would get chipped in the front. Great handling around the ramps for the highway entrance. The Hurst is sweet and it sounds great. Suspension is different than a GT. If you have drove a GT, you may want to drive one, just so you know the ride isn't as plush. All in all, its a great car. Especially if you can find a dealer who will discount it (like we did at my dealership). If you want something that you won't see everywhere, you won't be disappointed. For 2008, only about 2,100-2,300 cars will be made. So not a whole lot around to see. But they are out there, but don't know how many will be autos. Any questions, feel free to ask. Good luck with your decision.

There are also very limited Grabber Orange w/silver stripes (less than 300) sold in CA and Barrett Jackson ones, black w/red stripes (100) sold in AZ. These can be found on dealer sites for those states or ebay etc. Just a few options and also be aware that the 2008 version is the only one that is convertible.
I have one and LOVE it. If given the chance later on I will get a blue w/silver convertible to add to my collection. That one will stay stock. ...at least I say that now.
Don't forget that Shelby Autos will modify the car as well. I have the supersnake brakes, Ford Racing Whipple and a few other mods. That makes the car such a great performer! The ride is not as plush as a stock GT but I like it. It gives just enough feedback on the road but doesn't feel like I am driving a Go Kart.
Good luck on whatever you choose to do!
I just recently picked up my 07 Shelby GT coupe, and I love it. The exhaust note and handling are awesome!
It has been reported that they will not make a 2009 Shelby GT, so I hope this will help keep the value up.

Correct. The Shelby GT was only produced in 2007 and 2008. There will be no Shelby GT for 2009.

When I was looking for one over the last 6-8 weeks, I saw some that were close to $9000 below the sticker price, however I ended up buying an '08 that I found a great deal on and had the exact options I wanted. On the other hand, some dealers were still trying to get as much as I paid for my 08, and one was still asking for full sticker price even though it will be 2 (model) years old in a few months.
If it is still there, one of the better deals I saw on an 07 was one in Minnesota. White, IUP, Sirius, Shaker 1000, and Active Anti-theft and Engine Block Heater (first time I had seen that on one, but I am from the south, haha,). They were asking $33,000 for it.

Thanks for the info.
The engine block heater would come in handy if it were upgraded with a supercharger...
btw - I have an 08 blue-auto-vert and I absolutely love it - a dream come true
some good deals are out there especially with the high gas prices...
