2008 Shelby GT CHEAP backyard sub-standard hack job…
I think this is being blown all out of proportion. Black GT500 is referring to one specific SGT at one dealer, that by the pictures does have some problems.
I don't relate his post to saying all SGTs are that bad.
(it looks like it's a 2007 not a 2008)

I really do apologize for helping to steer this one so far off course. Perhaps it should just be:
'ed?
Ok, let me go into the Gt500 thread and tell them they overpaid for a car that we all know "really isn't a Shelby". Let's see how well that goes over.
You say that Black GT500 said "Black GT500 is referring to one specific SGT at one dealer" no, what he did was **** the entire program making hasty generalizations. Talking about rust when the hood is aluminum and calling the car "excrement", yeah, no big deal. Some Mustang enthusiast forum when people run to defend junk like that.
It wasn't you that did it, but yeah, there's going to be production problems. The nicest things about the SGT are it's collectible status, resale, but mainly the fact that you're getting a nice 'factory' modded car.
Have a good night, I've said all I wanted to say, and I hold nothing against anyone here except of course my good friend Black GT500.
Just struck a nerve...

Yeah, the guy was just trying to stir up trouble here, why else would he go to all this trouble. He was definitely not trying to ask anyone their opinion, ask a legit question or be informative. he was just trying to see if he could hack someone off.
Look, I often edit my posts to fix spelling erorrs, add a word I left out, or to make a statement more concise. Why would a guy hassle someone because they edited their post?

WOW! your village called; well you know the rest…
It’s a good thing you don’t earn a living with your people skills, on the other hand maybe you do, and that would certainly explain your frustration. It might even explain your absurd reaction here. I Guess.
I didn’t do the half-a$$ed Job that’s got your panties in a knot. That would be someone at the Shelby shop. If you don’t like the cr*p I took pictures of, call Carroll Shelby! I will tell you the sales manager there d*mn sure doesn’t like it.
If your Shelby GT isn’t sub-standard, TAKE A FREAKIN CHILL PILL! Or are you just trying to look like a punk?
Do you really want me to play push the monkeys buttons with you? I can certainly do that, you make it easy.
If paying a premium for half-a$$ed shoddy workmanship is good enough for you, I suggest you are the one with “serious mental issues”. I D*mn sure wouldn’t be in a public forum announcing that to the world.
BTW:
It’s not my problem you are insecure about your car, and have camera envy. Grow up!

Why? Why didn't you just say that from the start to Black GT500? This guy seems to take pleasure bouncing from one SGT thread to another bad mouthing the car. Sorry I've had enough which for me, a usual lurker, is saying quite a lot! I don't spend my time posting to boards all day and I surely don't have the time to bad mouth other people's choice in cars but make no mistake, I will defend mine.

You have SERIOUS issues my friend!
Oh and BTW, we both know who paid the premium don't we.
Yea, they fired us and would like to hire you as we've been outclassed.
I should really stop walking into this, but oh well.
Let's see if I can't break this down point-by-point:
Point 1: What job are you calling half-@$$ and crappy? The drilled bare metal hole or the bent hood pin cover? If its the former, poll a thousand folks who've put real hood pins in their cars and see what they've done with their holes - I bet you'll be surprised. If its the latter, stop placing blame on Shelby unless you have proof that it was hacked up at the shop - which I seriously doubt you have proof of. I'd have to guess it either happened during transport or at the dealership and wasn't a Ford or Shelby generated issue. Period.
Point 2: I've talked to MANY folks at SAI while in the process of purchasing my car. First of all, I highly doubt ANY of them would let this roll out of the shop as is. If its sold this way, I can give you about a dozen different contacts out there that would have it fixed in a matter of days, no questions asked. The fact is, that dealer should be ashamed its on the sales floor and fix it themselves stat. You wouldn't happen to be the owner of said dealership, would you?
Point 3: Whose calling who a punk? YOU are the one that came into the 2007-2008 Shelby GT forum and started talking smack. You think that's going to go over very well? I think you need to reflect on your own people skills/social prowess before calling anyone else out on it. And yes, if you come to this forum, start talking smack about the SGT, you better believe you're going to have a few outspoken folks that are going to stand up for their rides. Just by you stating "Do you really want me to play push the monkeys buttons with you? I can certainly do that, you make it easy." you know you're in here trying to work people up...which is working as your attacking something very dear to many of us.
Are we in the GT500 forums ranting & raving and pointing out its flaws? Calling it utter garbage and generally trash talking it? No. Perhaps you shouldn't do the similar and then when you do, don't act surprised when you receive a not so welcomed response.
I'm starting to smell a troll amongst these here forums....
Point 4: Who paid good money for shoddy workmanship? The only one I can tell that did that so far is the DEALER who purchased the car that you've so lovingly presented to us here today. The only one I'm going to guess that at this point paid too much for their ride is you. That would sure explain your posts.
Until you started posting, there weren't too many "ZOMG! You paid too much for your car. You're a bunch of 'not so smart people'!" posts in here (read: none). We've had our CIVIL discussions about the cost of the mods vs. the price of the SGT, but this would be a first where we're being called "punks" & having "serious mental issues"...for buying a car!
Point 5: We're insecure? See point #3. You're the GT500 owner in the SGT forum trying to talk smack about our cars...
Further, you're the one who stated that you had wished your car didn't even say Shelby on it via this thread right here: http://forums.bradbarnett.net/showpo...6&postcount=51 where you spew even more vial garbage for the SGT via your uneducated and meant to irritate comments where you continue to name call both the folks at Shelby & the SGT itself.
I think that, my fellow Stanger (and I use that term loosely), is doing a disservice to the 500, to Shelby, & to the Mustang community as a whole. If you've got such an issue with Shelby being on your car trade it in, buy a V6, and spend all the cash you spent on your 500 to build the car the way you want it - Shelby free! Thought I'm not sure why anyone would want to. There are PLENTY of folks out there that would love the opportunity to have a real SHELBY GT 500 - as apparently you don't.
And camera envy? You only wish!
Now get off your high horse (LOL oh the pun was intended!) and cut the holier than thou attitude out. Its becoming tiresome.
As this goes on, my thoughts are aligning more and more with you GTH395 (aka Who me?).
EDIT: I'm going to click the edit button about twice an hour, every hour, on all my posts in this thread...
....funny...calling people out for editing their own posts.
Whoops! Pushed the edit button. Twice!

Criticism with regards to short comings, defects, or quality issues is the main avenue for resolution and improvements, primarily not out of concern for customer satisfaction but because it affects sales and prices. Flattery or ignoring the obvious issues doesn't work very well unless complacency is the goal.
It's about the cars, not about its fans or owners. Having to retort to personal attacks only supports the lack of valid counter points and fails in disproving the unwelcomed intruder.

I find it funny this thread popped up. I saw some Shelby GTs that looked pretty crappy two weeks ago but kept it to myself. I looked at a two 08 blue Shelby GTs in passing when purchasing my Bullitt. I did not look closely at the Shelby GTs but I did notice that the coupe had a horribly dull paint finish on the front chin spoiler. It looked like it was painted with a rattle can. Meanwhile the other Shelby GT, a convertible, had a wavy hood scoop. It looked like it was melted and deformed. The paint on the scoop looked like it was also applied with a rattle can. These cars that I saw were beautiful from afar, but the craftsmanship was pretty poor.
I also I looked at a white Shelby GT in the showroom of a local dealership last year and noticed the silver stripe decals were already peeling off on the hood. I have only seen three Shelby GTs and have to say all three were cosmetically flawed. These cars are really sharp looking, but I was turned off by the craftsmanship I observed.

Because I don't need to. His comments weren't on the collectible status, resale, or mods of the vehicle. His post was about the poor craftsmanship of a vehicle he saw, and since I have seen a similar thing locally I knew what he meant. Judging by your insecurity, I'm guessing you may know what he means too.
Good one.
- I only mentioned the edit because twice after I quoted his post, I read back through and there's more stupid comments that I don't feel like responding to.

Be careful doing that.
And yes,
Careful guys, it seems some SGT owners are pretty defensive. Nobody has said that they're junk, I'm only saying that I've seen one bad one, and apparently other people have too. They've got plenty of good points, and if someone has a hood pin 'off center' then just consider that character from a hand made job instead of the normal cookie cutter robot made cars that are mostly out there.
With that said, unsubscribing... better things to do - going to sand my hood.

Be careful doing that.

Actually, it should.

Funny the people finding fault don't own one.
Funnier that they even use Ford's paint job on the lower facia as a SGT issue to prove their point proving only they they know nothing about car, or their own, aka, Mustangs have an aluminum hood, knock knock...learn a little about your car heh?
While anyone can say ANYTHING here and make wild claims could it possibly be there are a few "hand built" cars with some issues, a few out of the 8000 total built in 07-08? Sure! Has SAI covered the issues and fixed under warranty? Sure!
Would you like me to detail all the GT500 issues that have been posted around the forums? I started to but I realized that would make me just like you wouldn't it. I've owned more Mustangs than a lot of people here and while I loved them all none with without some issue at some point. They are after all cars.
I love my car and I'm pretty sure you do yours! Mine has none of the issues any of you have pointed to and I get more compliments on the car than any I have ever owned. I wish I had a dollar for every thumbs up I have had. I know plenty of other SGT owners and with the exception of some hood scoop issues that are being worked on everyone is pretty happy thanks!
So to quote Jack: "Go sell crazy someplace else...where all full here."
Oops...sorry forgot to edit! There!

That would be one logical reason why they didn't.
Liking the car is one thing but buying one and having to deal with known issues is another. The tuner can detect faults just like the buyers. There is no reason why the cars should be shipped to dealers with imperfections.

We've had 6 SGT's pass through our dealership and every single one of them had cosmetic issues that were on parts handled by SAI after it left Ford's control. Striping, hood scoop, strut tower brace, etc. with flaws that would make me uneasy if I were shelling out the premium over a regular Mustang GT.
The SGT's are awesome looking cars and certainly a worthy car to wear the Shelby name, but these cars have more "character" scratched/etched into them than a well-heeled buyer might like.
On a side note, I've installed hood pins on the vast majority of my cars over the years and I've always finished the underside of the hood so that you can't see the raw drilled holes by using two round chrome trim plates (sandwiching the hood - one on top & one under the hood). And, I've used stainless fasteners (nut and bolts with lock washers - not rust prone screws) to secure the plates. Shelby does have a vastly improved hood pin set up for the 2008's, so I commend them for fixing the nasty hood pins from the '07's. I'm even considering buying a set of the "new" hood pins for my GT (albeit the non-logo version they offer since my car is not a Shelby).
That would be one logical reason why they didn't.

Yeah no agenda there!
Next!
