Wet carpet

Well, I found my first problem with the new ride. Wet carpet UNDER the passenger floor mat. Carpeted floor mat wasn't wet. Took the cowl trim off over the cabin filter and the plenum was clean and dry. Filter was dirty, so replaced it. Then put the car on jack stands and looked at the A/C drain in the trans tunnel and it was clean and dry. As I was taking the car off the jack stands I noticed the rubber gasket on the door window was deformed in two places about 12" aft of the mirror. Like maybe someone had rolled up the window with something there for an extended period of time. The deformation is about 2' in length. Anyway, did the YouTube search deal, found videos about how to change the rubber gasket, but also learned that the plastic window trim has a foam gasket on the underside. I found the rubber gasket online, but does anyone know where I might find the foam gasket for the window trim. Or do I just have to wing it and use Home Depot door/window foam seal like one guy on YouTube did?

Welcome to the forums!

Yes, you'll have to wing it. You could also go to a Ford Dealer Parts department and look it up and see if they have the product, but it'll probably cost more and be the sameish material, and you'd wait, so I'd not bother and just get it at the hardware store.

Before I did all that, though, I'd be taking a garden hose and running water along that side for a while and see if I can catch the water intrusion in action. It may not be that example, it could be the windshield along the pillar or something else. All that work and it not fix it would be very frustration inducing, yes?

Hope that helps! Good luck!

also make sure you clean out the cowl drains, clogged cowl drains is a common cause for the wet carpet, in case you didn't already learn about that

There are also plenty of threads which address this topic.. They can be located by searching the sub-forums by selecting the search function menu above.. When the search box window displays, type in "passenger side water leak" You'll then come across a listing of threads directly related towards the water leak issues..

You can still have your fun by typing it over and over, as the OP's have both options at their disposal.. They can always submit questions and search the sub-forums

Here is a good PDF I tend to share with those who have water issues.
