Third Brake Light Problem

Hello all,

So my third brake light (High-Mount) is out and I can't seem to locate my manual for where the Third brake light fuse is. Popped off cover and nothing 'jumps' out at me :/

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2008 CT/CS. Thanks!

EDIT: To add, I looked at my service manual...still can't locate the third-brake light fuse :/

It's probably not on a fuse by itself seperate from the taillamps. Did you check the obvious to see if the bulb burned out? Check the bulb connector for 12v when the pedal is depressed, and check for a bad contact or socket overheating. Check also to make sure the wiring from the deck lid has a good ground. After that then I would look at the brake light switch where there is likely a seperate circuit coming off it going to that light only. Don't forget it may also be controlled by the Smart Junction Box in the right lower kick panel.

The only failure on the 2006 convertible i had was the third brakelamp bulb. Little hair element in there was hanging loose. New bulb set me back a lot more than I expected, but it was worth it.

the center light on my 06 and the wifes 07 have never worked that I know of...the 09 does, but its got 3 miles on it. anyway, must be one cheap bulb...Ive followed dozens of S197s over the last few years, only saw 2 with a working center brakelight...personally think it looks better without it, but might get you a ticket too...knock on wood, not yet for me

My Third Brake Light went out a few weeks after I got my car (bought it used with just over 10k miles) and it was covered under warranty.

As long as it's under warranty, absolutely. Make them pay for it. The labor's the easy part.

I scheduled an appointment with Napa Ford. I have also had an ongoing issue with the Tire Pressure Sensor (and Monitor) fault. Ford never fixes it as they can't duplicate the error.
Anyways, going in to get this looked at on Friday. Thanks for the replies.

I agree, if it's under warranty, I'll take it in for anything, even a lightbulb!

Wrap Up:

Ford Service Dept: "We are sorry however we were unable to see the brake light being inoperable. It works fine. The only thing that we (we = more than one technician) can think of is when you installed the "Mustang" sticker over your Third brake light it may have made the light go out."

WTF, are you serious? El oh El. I almost cried in the dealership when I heard him say that.

On my other error with the Tire Pressure Sensor...

Ford Service Dept.: "We are sorry, we are going to have to charge labor to look at this because it is not covered under your manufacturers' warranty nor your dealer warranty."

Me: "Fair enough, I'll just remove the sensor and receiver and will that null my warranty?"

Ford Service Dept.: (after a few minutes of banging away on the PC there...) "Yes. It will."

My kicking and screaming fell on deaf ears...I'll remove it next time I rotate tires.
