Need some advice

My story.. (haha)

I bought a 05' Mustang Conv brand new in 2006. I was 21 years old and really wanted a mustang and rushed into it not really thinking or getting what i REALLY wanted. So now, i am in LOVE with the GT/CS mustangs and found out yesterday that I was actually approved to trade in my car and get one. Unfortunally, it's going to cost me around 39K because I am in the whole around 6K (neg equity), however, with X PLAN and current incentives on 07' models im breaking even. So, I guess Im wondering is it worth it? Ive asked friends and family, they think i'm crazy, and I want to know the main differences between the 07 model gt/cs and the 08 models? The car I'm looking at also has the shaker 1000, and optional built in navagation system... which I am consdiering getting? good investment? bad? any help and or suggestions would be great i just dont know what i really want, and of course it's going to be a convertible.

thanks!

Honestly id say if you really want it, then go get it. There is quite a few little add-ons from 07-08. Ambient lighting, HID's, side air bags, chrome pieces around radio head pieces. I think there is a few other little things.

39k is alot. Id consider tossing the nav and saving almost 2k. might even toss the shaker1000. the 500 kicks azz, dont need a 1000 unless u really want extra bass. that alone will save you almost 4k.

Do yourself a favor and add gap coverage for $525 and an ext warranty.

Hmm, I didn't think about the NAV ability. And you know what? I dont even know with the price that i listed included the nav system, i didnt even know it was offered until I saw it in one at the dealership the other day. I know for sure it has the shaker 1000, I have a 500 now and it doesnt bother me, besides it rattles a little on the drivers side. I just can't imagine spending 39k on a new one, but it's because my neg equity, but I want it bad haha. I could get a beemer!

plz dont get a beemer...nav is cool, but you can get some very good external navs for about $500. then it go can from car to car with you.

all i can really say is that i love my 08. lol

If I remember right, the navigation is only available with the Shaker 500 - so I guess you would have to decide which one you wanted more -

Is it possible to sell your car, instead of trading it in? Not for sure if this would make a big difference in the negative loss -

My overall thought is i know how you feel about getting a car that you LOVE - but to spend $39,000 for a car that doesn't cost that much loaded; and it will be worth much less since the 08's are out in full swing -
The newness of the car will eventually fade away - and your payments won't

I'd wait, start making bigger payments on the current stang, then when you get on more even grounds pull the trigger on the new stang.

I did basically the same thing with my truck, but it was the now exgirlfriend who changed my mind about somethings I wanted and didn't want. GF is gone but I still have the truck the way I really didn't want it... So I waited till I had her paid off before ordering a new vehicle, the exact way I wanted it.

Just because you are qualified to go further into debt doesn't make it a good idea. You've got a nice ride. Keep it. Pay it off. Do something else with the extra money (like maybe save it ).

Just my two cents...YMMV.
