It's an alright package I guess, basically a fluff 'n stuff poser's package lacking any real meat (aside from a slightly lowered suspension?). But if they're enough people interested in style over substance enough to help fill Ford's barren coffers (for more substantive future SEs?), then the GT/CS makes for a convenient prybar into their wallets.

The GT/CS is essentailly along the same lines as the pony package for V8 fans.
Overall, I really like the front fascia, especially when shown on a non-white car. Its a shame that they haven't thrown any go-fast goodies on the car at all.
I think the reason for any bickering about the car is the fact that many of us are horsepower junkies and won't be satisfied until a 350 or 400Hp s/e hits the street that would fill the gap between the GT and GT500.

IMO, one of the biggest mistakes they made if it's only going to be an appearance package is the spoiler. The best thing about the real GT/CS was the ducktail spoiler.
And it doesn't bother me that it's all appearance since the original was also.

too little, too early, with too little thought.
I mean.. with the original CS's being GT's with a Shelby Apperance package, why does this one not have ONE THING incommon with the new Shelby?
*Snuh*
It's just lack luster...

Regarding the non-functional hood/ scoops/ etc., most of you have probably done something to your car to make it look better, otherwise you probably wouldn't be cruising these forums. Things like hood/ trunk stripes, aluminum control *****, wheels, etc. do little for the performance of your vehicle, so why add/ change such things? Because it brings a smile to your face, that's why. The CS package looks pretty good as far as I'm concerned, and I greatly look forward to see what other tricks Ford has up its sleeve

By the way, there's a cool web site for the original CS's here:
http://www.californiaspecial.com
It's interesting to look at the gallery and see the wide range of powerplants. I didn't even know you could get a 2 barrel 390 in a Mustang, you've got to wonder what's up with that! And those 200 ci CS's equipped with a 1 barrel carb, don't you know that was a dragstrip terror

If I could afford a GT I would love a CS. Without the hood scoop though not that it's not nice, on the contrary it's the best looking on on the market. I just like a clean hood. I really like the facia and the mix interior colors, the rear is also very nice I kind of wish all the stangs came like that. I seem to remember similar dislike when the Pony Pkg came out(I was on the fence about it my self) In the end I am glad I got it, and the pictures NEVER represent the actual product when seen in person. I gurantee half of the people who don't like it, will when they see it in person.

Me ,Ya I think Im going to order one just have to decide on what color? My dealer is suppose to be getting a white one in this week, I was thinking the redfire myself. Kinda diggin the WV / blue on the GT but the CS/Special only comes in Vista . Any idea what size rear end is standard in the CA/S?
