Cloth or Vinyl Top?

Can anyone list the pros and cons of cloth and vinyl tops? The cloth option is more expensive so I assume it's nicer, but I've heard that it mildews after awhile and it's really not a good thing to have.

Thoughts?

If we wanted a hard top we would have ordered one

Black cloth top- pros- they look nice.
Black cloth tops cons- they are hard to keep clean, and tend to hold the moisture. also hotter in the summer.
Black vinyl top. pros- easy to keep clean.
Black vinyl top cons- vinyl tends to crack after time, hot in the summer, shows dirt.
Parchment vinyl top pros- cooler in the summer than black, Doesent show dirt as bad as black.
Parchment vinyl top cons- vinyl tends to crack after time, shows dark spots more than black.
overall, I went with the parchment vinyl top. Reason #1, I don't have a garage and it will be outside all the time and its hot here in the summer and I wanted the most sun/temp frendly top I could get.
The black top looks great, but a neighbor has a T bird with the black cloth top and he says its like velcro. everything sticks to it.
The choice is a personal one there is on right or wrong.
Except the feeling of having the top down on a nice day and the shaker crancked.

We went with the cloth top because I think it looks better the the vinyl, as for cleaning the cloth just wait for a dry day and lightly brush away any marks.

I went with the black cloth and it looks great. It does soak up water but you can give it a RaggTopp Fabric Protectant treatment. Lint is easily cleaned off with a lint roller.

I just spray my vinyl top off with the garden hose.

I have a cloth & like Dougxox said & I agree It was so worth 300.00 more for a cloth than vinal no shrinking / no dry cracks / and everyone I know or talked to that does have a cloth the biggest problem they ever had was lint or dog hair thats it and after 5 years I've seen that they still look Great !

I went with vinyl. It cost less and requires less maintenance. I totally agree that cloth looks nicer, but the only time my top will be up is when my car is in the garage with a cover on it. Most of my driving time will be spent with the top down and noone is going to see it anyway. The extra cost isn't justified for me.
