An additional GT/CS touch

A few weeks ago I was reading through a Mustang history, and among the pictures was one of 1968 GT/CS showing the rear. It had a decal stripe, large separated from small, drawn to a point as they drooped from the main portion along the upper edge of the trunk lid, conforming to the shape of the fenders as they rejoined and came to a point.

Mr graphic-express.com showed a similar stripe available to fit the S197. I chose black reflective for the black convertible, and white reflective for the white coupe. Figure in addition to the "tribute" aspects of such a stripe on a modern GT/CS, the reflective properties would become a safety factor after dark. Seems to me the early Machs had black stripes that reflected gold like that. The daytime colors blend into the car color so they are pretty subtle, especially on the black one, where in most lighting conditions you have to be looking for it to see it is there. The white stripe is not as good a match, but is still far from obvious.

I'll try to get a decent picture of the white one tomorrow; here's the black one:

Now you need this:

https://www.cervinis.com/page.aspx?n=TailConversion

Then it would look pretty close to the original CS.

I reckon it will be a few days before I get a chance to do some more full-body portraits.

That URL takes me to a pick-your-model page. To be frank, the rear aspect of the original GT/CSs was one of my least favorite views. I like to do some "tribute" stuff, but there are limits ...

I like the idea of the stripes but I would like the end to come to a point like the '68 GT/CS Mustang's had.

The Bob White ones might be closer to Ron's ideal, with pointier ends. I suppose Bob White would make one without the GT/CS text, if you asked. I see he also refers to the White Reflective vinyl as White/light silver, which is what the 3M stuff looks like to my eye. I'd hoped the graphic-express.com reflective white would be white, but nooooo.

These are quicksnaps made this morning. I have trouble doing black cars and white cars in the sun, and black plus white cars double the trouble.
