2011 Fall Color Cruise
Nasty cold front rolling in today. So recently took the CalStang out on the annual all day Fall color cruise through "SW" Iowa before putting him up for the winter. Roaring past all of that beautiful colorful country side out in the cool crisp air and hearing that V-8 pulling through the gears was pure heaven!! Drove along on some twisty forested back highways. Rolled quitely through some sleepy little midwest farm towns. Had Mr. Bob Segar along and he was playing his greatest oldies on the system. Finally headed back towards the Home-20 shop, as that sinking sun started falling away to quickly in the sky, thus ending this last Fall road ride of this year. Today the freezing sleet blast is just arriving now, but these warm memories shall keep us smiling here until this coming Spring... "RC"

P.S. San Diego is still one of my very favorite places. Especially up there on Cabillo near Point Loma! Stationed there once a very long time ago. Love that whole area. "RC"

San Diego is one of the best places to be, much of the time. Today we are experiencing some Fall-like weather of the no-sun, windy, wet, cool variety. Unusual.
One of my Air Force friends in the late 1950s used to receive a copy of the weekly newspaper from his home town. I remember its motto, but not its name:
"Redfield: Southwest Iowa's Most Industrialized Small Town".
He used to really enjoy a laugh over that.

early fall is my favorite time of year- days still fairly long, cooler, but not cold...sadly in ohio a couple weeks into it, and its dark early, cold, damp and the trees are barren...nice while it lasts, great days for just going for a ride.
I wont be putting my car away for a while, its out till snow/salt comes, cant bear to get it in the salt even once...had it out early before spring this year- roads were cleared after a good rain for a few days- then at work one day unexpectedly it snowed a little and the salt trucks went nuts again... left the car at work till the next rain cleared the roads a week or so later.
I know its coming, but really hate parking the car for those salt months
thanks for sharing the pics- love fall scenery and mustangs!

More Fall colors
Because some folks said they liked the Fall pictures, now sending a few more out from here in "SW" Iowa. First two taken at an I-680 rest stop about 25 miles north of our place. The rest taken from the back yard of our semi-rural home up in the forests of the Loess Hills. We live about seven miles from the Missouri River and this whole place is so very rich with wild life and some very thickly forested areas above the valleys. Enjoy. Turkey anyone? "RC"
