Question....Saleen numbers his specials the Shelby's are numbered, even the Texas Pony Package Mustangs are numbered and come with a Plaque. Does anyone know if Ford numbered the GT/CS? Second week with mine 312 miles on the odom...gave it the twice over and coud not see any special serial number. Maybe the VIN contains a code or maybe there is a buildsheet under the carpet somewhere.

 

There is nothing in the VIN itself to id a mustang as a GT/CS. You can request a buildsheet (go over to californiaspecial.com and ask them how you do it or do a search on this subject)

 

GT/CS is not really a special model, it is just an option package on the GT premium... and one that I have and really like...

 

mine is special - says so on the fake gas cap

 

FWIW, the GT/CS is sometimes called a limited edition by Ford. What's the difference between a limited edition and special edition?

 

You can email Ford for a build sheet but that won't tell you much, the package is a limited package they were to build about 7,000 or 8,000 cars per year but each car is not numbered like Shelby, Saleen or the California edition or Texas edition were at 400 units I believe. I tried to talk to Ford to find out what number my car was out of the possible allotment, but they had no idea how to do it if it was possible.

LOL We are special. I saw the tungsten grey club the other day: a group of riders with the Grey Hued Mustang....and they have created a club and even have a numbering sytem for their members. Anyone intereseted in creating a GT/CS club? If so email me direct hemistar1@aol.com... I think it would be great if 200 or 300 of us showed up at an event like the Motorsport Natiionals or the Texas Shootout and lined up to show that FOMOCO pride
