'08s w 40th ann pkg should I wait?

When the 40th anniv Mustangs came out in '04 there was a pkg offered with special badging and colors and I thought I read there may be something like that in '08 for the GT/CS. I'm thinking now, that I might just cancel and wait even ifI have to lose a few dollars. Sync is supposed to be available in '08 too. Are these things worth the wait?

I don't see any reason to wait at all.
Every model year brings potential new improvements.
If you are concerned, then get into the leasing mode and
trade her in every 2 years or so.

My 2 cents

The only problem with that idea, is that Mustang GT's are notoriously bad lease vehicles. What I mean by this is that they don't have special lease rates on them. While the residual may be good (currently in the high 50% range for 3 years at 15,000 miles) the lease rate factor (what is used to work the lease up) is high (currently at 7.00% for 3 years in PA). If you compare the lease rate of a vehicle that is a good lease deal (i.e. Fusion, Eddie Bauer Explorer, Escape) these cars routinely have a 36 month lease rate factor of around 1.50 % to 2.75%. A big difference when your figuring a lease with $0 cash down to lower the lease payment.

I personally think Ford does this on purpose, as they don't want these cars back, considering that they may think that some may have been, ahem, beaten on, ahem, somewhat.

I think every year Ford will come up with some kind of "Bling" to peak the interest in the Mustang. Whether it be the Shelby GT500, Shelby GT350, GT/CS, Boss 302, Mach 1, Bullet, XX Anniversary Cobra.....the list will go on and on for every year.

The reason I bought a GT/CS is because it is an appearance package that already has 300 hp, I heard the 08's will have larger engines maybe a 5L and with the price of gas these days, is that REALLY needed?

The 18 year old in you might think it was cool, but when reality sets in you might regret getting the bigger engine.

You got that right. I can get over 26 mpg on my 5 speed GT/CS if I go easy on it. You aren't going to to get that kind of milage if you go bigger. For instance the GT500 needs premium fuel and gets 18 highway if you don't horse around....that's not for me... I love this car and want to drive it ..can't wait for the snow to melt so I can start driving it some more.
