Glad to hear it crazyhorse! The enthusiasm and support on these forums has begun to dispel my gloom. You guys are great and obviously true enthusiasts, I look forward to rejoining the ranks of Mustang ownership again!

The one exception short term is that I will be in San Diego from Mar 28- April 1. Not too enthusiastic about the idea of spending my vacation at the dealarship though and of course it would have to be shipped. Just seems a little rushed, probably should have thought of that sooner. From the time I get back from CA through summer is my busiest time of the year and I work 6 days a week(actually 1/2 day on Sat.) so I guess this really limits me. If overnight or extended travel is what its gonna take I may have to wait till fall when things slow down. I'll be in Orlando in Sept., San Diego in October, Chicago in November. Other than that its not much other than Sat. afternoon excursions till Jan through March which is very flexible, I realize that's beginning to be unrealistically extended timing though.

Thanks again for the help
OK, I searched again, so here's what I found, state by state. I don't know where most of these cities are (north or south within the state) so I apologize if any are too far away.

Let's do Mississippi first...

No 2008 GT500 Convertibles in your color choices (Grabber Orange, Torch Red, or Vapor Silver) without the Sirius Satellite Radio, but there is one with the Sirius (if you can live with the hump on the truck) as well as most other factory options...

Kirk Auto Company in Grenada, MS. (662) 226-3632. Vapor Silver. MSRP $52,080. View window sticker.

Here's Louisiana....

Again, none in your color choices without Sirius, but one with Sirius and most everything else...

Harper Foy Ford Mercury in Many, LA. (877) 832-4420. Torch Red. MSRP = $52,645. View Window Sticker.

I'll check AR, MO, and IL later - I've gotta run for now.

Even though the turtle shell antenna is not attractive ( I did not get it for the same reason), you will forget about it once you mash the peddle. For that matter, in the end, the color won't matter much either. You'll love whatever color you end up with.

We had a black vert with alloy stripe at my local dealer. I really like the sublte stripe look. I'd like to see it in a coupe with the OTT stripes.

Then again, I love my Performance White/Vista Blue Coupe.

I finally caved and pulled the triger for 1K over, but I got to order it how I wanted it so I figured it was worth it. I'm pretty sure I could have found a dealer willing to order a 2009 at sticker, but as I really do not like the Sirus bump I wanted an 08.

Congrats. Do you have it yet? If not, when? What did you order?

I don't have it yet, but the dealer called this week and said it was being built and I should have it in 2-3 weeks. It was ordered ~4 weeks ago. I went with the ever popular red/white stipes combo and red interior, shaker 1000 and IUP. I figured I would never drive it at nite (bugs) so I wasn't interested in the HID or ambient lighting and I really did not want the Sirius bump. I have Sirius at home and my wife's car has XM and I love them both, but some engineer was sleeping on the job with the mustang design.

Black with red stripes was actually my first choice, but I couldn't see paying the extra $$ for the red stripe package. Plus I can't keep the black Mustang I'm trading in clean for more than 5 mins.

Finally found an '08 GT500 Vert in one of your color choices that does not have Sirius!!! It's in Illinois...

Friendly Ford, Inc. in Roselle, IL. (630) 924-8686. Torch Red Vert. VIN 1ZVHT89S285164438. MSRP = $50,590. View Window Sticker.

And, in Illinois there are five Torch Red and eight Vapor Silver (no orange) '08 GT500 Verts that do have Sirius.

If Illinois isn't too far for you, let me know and I'll send up details on them all.

Northern Alabama shows 2 '08 GT500 verts in your color choices, but both have Sirius (go figure!)...

Family Ford Sales, Inc. in Florence, AL. (877) 881-3351. Torch Red Vert. VIN 1ZVHT89S685164183. MSRP = $52,320. View Window Sticker.

Ernest McCarty Ford Inc. in Alabaster, AL. (205) 663-3831. Vapor Silver Vert. VIN 1ZVHT89S285143833. MSRP = $52,405. View Window Sticker.

That's all the states that you mentioned would be close, Dad's72Mach. I hope this helps you get the car you want at a good price. Let me know if want more details on the Illinois cars that have Sirius.

Ultimately, I wish Ford would someday give consumers a better tool for searching far and wide (instead of 5 dealers at a time like they do at www.FordDirect.com). As a dealership employee, I can search entire states or regions at one time by color and equipment choices, so I don't know why consumers aren't given that luxury.

Congrats on the new car! Thats a fantastic deal. Plus if you were to order it out of state, at MSRP, you would have had to pay for a carrier to ship it That would basically equal what you paid for your car. I recently ordered one for my good friend, and the price was only $2K over (the 2 others we have sold went for 8K early in the 2008 year and then $5K over, as the market subsided), so he was thrilled to get it built to his exact specs. In todays market, if there has to be a markup, its between 1K and 5K depending on region. Any store that has their GT500s at anywhere over $5K and above (I have a store near me that is at $10K over for a car they had for 8 months), the dealer isn't viewing reality through clear glasses!

Again, congrats. You color combo matches my frends to a T!

It's getting quieter around the NW for GT500's. Fewer inquiries equal lower prices. We've got two fresh '08 GT500's in our showroom at about $3K over MSRP each, including a beautifully spec'd coupe that's just $49K and change. I suspect that MSRP ought to be the norm by the time the 2009's start showing up later this summer.

Yeah, they are sitting on the showrooms around here, too. Our local has a nice black vert with the alloy stripe. They are asking 10 over. It has been sitting there for a while.

I just had a local dealar call me about the white coupe with blue stripes that I'd better run down and see before it's sold. $47K MSRP.

All they want is $62k

The black vert is still here. A friend of mine stopped in there and asked about it. They have a $10k markup on the window. They gave him the indication that it could be bought without it..
