The GT500 stock shifter is a short throw, it's very precise, and has no shifting noise. IMO the Tri-ax would not be an upgrade.

The Shifter Handle itself could be a bit taller, like the tall speed jammer in my Roush. Other than that;- no GT500 Shifter complaints.

IMO you would be incorrect. The Tri-ax, while over priced for the GT500 is most assuredly a healthy upgrade. The stock shifter, while better than a stock Mustang GT was far from the quality of the Hurst we had in my wife's 05. The Steeda shifter is a vast improvement in feel, gear selection and throw. There is no additional noise. Unless a shifter is poorly designed for the S197 body cars, there really is no reason for noise to be transmitted as the shifter does not sit on the transmission.

Installation was not nearly as easy as on the GT though.

It seems that 3 Shelby GT500 owners disagree with you. You liked the Hurst?

It seems that three GT500 owners have not driven the car with the Steeda installed as a point of comparison. I have. Without the comparison as a data point, thier opinion is worth about what we paid for it.

Yes I liked the Hurst very much but not available for a GT500. The overpriced Steeda is the only current option.

Many times mods are done for the sake of modding, just to change something on a car. The stock shifter is perfect. If it ain't broke don't fix it.

If it is perfect for you then GREAT, please do not waste your money.

Don't drive a GT500 with a proper shifter in it either or your opinion of the 'perfect' shifter will evolve......

It was not perfect for me. Was one of the first things I grew to really dislike about the car during the ride home from the dealership (450miles). Decided then that I would fix the problem and did so with the first available option of decent quality. For me is was like rowing a boat with a rubber oar, just keep moving it will eventually find some gear......
