I know I would not of bought a GT 500 absent of his name. I feel I own a piece of history and that is why I spent over 43K. I think many agree with me. Proof is in the pudding. Look how many people are willing to donate to his charity just to have his signature. How many people do you know that can get $100 plus a signature all day long? I have had the honor of meeting many well known people, I have met and talked to more than 3 presidents, countless political figures, many household name athletes and the day I first shook the hand of Carroll Shelby at SEMA 2006 was a day I will never forget. I had to keep from getting choked up. He is a true gentleman and I am proud to of met him and spoken with him and now proud to drive a car Vin# 1ZVHT88S475347419 bearing his name.
+1 congrats brother on your car!

You have to admire that.

You might like to add without a trace of arrogance, deceit, or greed, and of course, a great spokesman for the regular Mustang guy at the Barrett-Jackson auctions!

+1 I admire Carroll for the Committment that he made and he kept true to the best of his abilities in that. This is true Integrity and is the greatest way to extend the generousity One can afford to Charity.

I have met and socialed with my share of Celebrity and they are People, like us all. Simply they are in the Public Eye and bring in larger paychecks.

The Mark Up Is Ridiculous

The mark up on all of these cars is ridiculous! I use the horsepower per dollar formula to make my decisions. A loaded GT with 300 HP costs close to 30K right? That is about 100 bucks a horse which is reasonable. You can get a 500 hp ZO6 corvette for 60k which is 118 per horse, Shelby GT 500 are going for about the same price now after the dealers gouged people for them at over 70k. So getting a Shelby KR or SS that puts out 600 hp for 80K is stupid. At that price you are paying 133 dollars per horse You could get that level of performance with a pulley change on a shelby. Heck I bought an 05 GT slapped 14k in salleen parts into it and have 435hp for 41k which = 94 dollars a horse (a bargain) I could go to JDM right now and kick out 10K for a forged 4.6 motor that would put out 600 hp and run just as fast for a lot les than 80K. It is sad since collectors get cars like this and mothball them to say a 100 years later Oooh look what I have gathering dust in my warehouse. Cars like this are meant to be driven and they should make enough for many people to drive them hard!

Minor detail I've observed on Ford vs Shelby released/produced products.

The Rocker stripes on Ford GT 500 and GT 500 KR have the lettering as the same color as the associated stripe (e.g blue alphanumerics and blue rocker stripes).

However, on the Shelby GT and GT 500 Supersnake, the lettering is the same as the body color.

Also the center stripe is larger in comparison to the 2 border stripes on the Shelbys, while the Ford GT 500 and KR have similiar dimensions to the 65-67 style Shelby rocker stripes (center stripe is not as wide as on the Shelby GT and Super Snake).
