Pulled the trigger and pulled out of the Shelby race

Nice car, congrats.
A question for you...as per your experience with your new Cayman, is that car so balanced like they say ? I mean, I seem to hear that it's basically perfect from that point of view...

Since I am still breaking her in, I cannot give a full and honest answer yet, as I have yet to put her through the paces....
But so far, yes, she is pretty sweet and very balanced, hard turns have been a lot of fun! I believe that the new BMW Z4 coupe (or M coupe, or whatever they call it) is a very balanced car too.

Congrats.
Congrats.
Looks like our predictions are coming true. Yeah, Ford ought to be reading these posts. And now would be a good time, because there might not be a later the way things are going.
And nice Cayman, by the way. As you say, a very different sort of ride.

Very nice ride!! I really like the Porsche line of cars.....but don't know anything about the Cayman....can you share the specs with us; weight, hp, 0-60 / 0-100-0 times, etc.? What is the price range (not what you paid) but retail on the Cayman and Cayman S? Also, where does the Cayman fit in the Porsche line....between the Boxer and the 911?
Enjoy your new ride and too bad you couldn't fly out to SD and take it up PCH - nice twistees and view!

Cayman
2 seater, rwd, mid engine, 2.7L 6 cylinders, 245 hp @ 6500 rpm + 201 lb/ft @ 4600-6000 rpm, curb weight 2866 lbs (manual), 0-60 5.8s, top speed 160 mph, $49,400
Cayman S
2 seater, rwd, mid engine, 3.4L 6 cylinders, 295 hp @ 6250 rpm + 251 lb/ft @ 4400-6000 rpm, curb weight 2954 lbs (manual), 0-60 5.1s, top speed 171 mph, $58,900
From what I understand, the Porsche Cayman and Cayman S were created because Porsche felt they needed a little less expensive Coupe than the 911 (which starts at $72,400...) and they continued with the philosophy of the Boxster (lightweight, powerful enough to have a good power-to-weight ratio and with a mid engine that basically guarantees the vehicle will handle at a top notch level).
The Cayman S so far has been receiving praise from the press for its handling (and one accessory that you must have, according to car magazines, is the PASM or Porsche Active Suspension Management), acceleration and overall quality. Its direct competitor is the BMW Z4 M Coupe (which has the same 6sp gearbox and the same engine as the BMW M3) and lately there have been some comparos done by various car enthusiasts magazines (you can find one here: http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=3823) and the Cayman S was the winner every time.
The only bad point about the Cayman S is the price: while it might start at 58k, if you equip it a bit, it soars above 70k very easily...And this is classic Porsche: their cars are expensive but generally under equipped and the final price can be pretty high, if compared with what other car makers offer.
But a Porsche is a Porsche: when you get one, you get a finely crafted sport car and if you want it, you gotta pay for it...
As far as the Cayman (the 245hp model), I haven't seen stuff in the news lately, but I am sure that if you want to research it, you might find stuff.
If you want more infos on Porsches, here's their website:

Hope I helped...

Team Mustang Source
Really, Really nice.... but it didn't give me the strange exciting feeling like if it were a Vista Blue GT500 whatever the cost, anyway seriously congrats! (only 1 because its not a Mustang)

And Semperfi65, yeah I did have color choices, I got Cobalt Blue and it was my first color choice for sure, that is the reason I got my car from CA (as they were the only dealer in the US with the options I wanted)...and yeah, I LOVE IT!

It's only a matter of time before supply and demand balance out.

You know I did the same thing since I was tired of getting "played" by my dealer. I didn't get a Cayman but I got a Vette. It is a great car and much better then I thought. I am another guy turned off by trying to deal for a Shelby. Its not all that to be over charged for. I am glad I didn't get one for that inflated marked-up price.
