Installing KR 500 Brake Duct Bezels

This weekend I was installing an Afco GT 500 Pro-Series Dual Pass Heat Exchanger. So I decided to install the Shelby 7S3Z-2K004/5-K KR 500 Brake Duct Bezels at the same time. If you are planning to install these brake duct bezels be prepared for a real PITA. The holes in the lower grill are bored @ 2 compound angles resulting in an oblong hole, making this installation very difficult without damaging the lower grill.

However, if you're willing to take enough time and have lots of patience it can be done. While the lower grill is still mounted in the fascia, you can use a 2.25" hole saw from the back side of the fascia to properly locate the bezels. Then remove the lower grill from the fascia. Now is where it gets difficult. Due to the compound angles, the remaining material must be carefully removed and the bezel fit numerous times to prevent making the hole either too large or the wrong shape. Then once you have one side done, you get to do it all over again on the other side. The bezel just slips in the grill and is held in place with a small plastic oblong shaped retainer from the back side of the grill. That retainer has a precut hole so the center can be removed to make the ducts functional. If you wish to leave the center in the retainer, the bezels are cosmetic. Then the grill can be reinstalled in the fascia.

Another option is to purchase the lower grill from Shelby with the holes for the bezels already pre-drilled. The 7S3Z-17K945-AA lower grill from Shelby is $209.95.

Great job, thanks for the heads up. The price on that lower grill suddenly looks more reasonable.

You have just convinced me to buy the lower grill and sell off my lower grill. Thanks for the heads up.

If I was to do it all over again I would purchase the grill from C/S - drilling these holes properly is a real PITA!!

you should make a template out of yours, and then sell the grills with the holes drilled.

I have no desire to do it a second time. If I was to do it again I would purchase the pre-drilled grill from C/S.
