I have seen many bad talking about the GT500 and that they say its disapointing.... I'm disapointed too but i dont think 0-60 is 4.5 like the older cabra... well if its true then Team svt is stupid for making it a cobra.. anyway ...
I bought a top gear mag and they say the gt500 is their best ride.... here is a picture of the cover only and look at the plastic cover they rated them and the GT500 is the 1st followed by the C6 and the new viper ( 3rd)

I don't think anybody here actually hates the GT500, it's just that many of us were somewhat disappointed by its specs when it made it to production.
The main complaint was that, although we did get 500 hp instead of 475 as initially announced, it came on a considerably heavier than expected car.
BTW, I'm off to buy the magazine right now!

Just where did you get Top Gear Mag... I have to download the TV show. Is it only in Britian cause I dont remember seeing it on any of our magazine racks. I want to know what kinda lap time the Stig throws down in the 500.

A very good, solid, journyman's effort, no doubt, but certainly nothing transcendant or inspirational.

well im off in a vacation to uk and i saw this mage when i turned the mag and saw the rating i said i gotta get this one.. and there was a huge badass smile on my face...
well... stig doesnt try out the gt500 .. but they were testing the gt500 and zo6 and the viper all in the us... the zo6 and the gt500 had problems the zo6 had the computer thingy burned so they replaced the whole car.. but the gt500 had some kinda T connecter with the radiator hoses ... but all preformed great... they didnt say this was better than that but they just rated them.

Not one to say I hate the GT500, just that I am dissapointed in the finalproduct. Changes from the concept to prototype just put a bad taste in my mouth. Changes like the new hood, heavier weight, boring exhaust and the offset Shelby on the back lid make me sad. That and the morons who are paying anywhere from 20-30K over MSRP are putting it out of reach for mustang owners who would actually drive it. Maybe they will make subtle changes to the 08 and 09 Shelbys and get it right. By then maybe these horendous markups will be gone.

I have the latest TopGear issue in my hands!
It's definitely worth buying, there's a trip to the Mojave desert with a GT500, a Z06 and a Viper SRT-10, a report on the new Camaro and a test drive with the new Challenger, all in the same issue!
The GT500 definitely gets a thumbs-up, albeit mentioning the less-than-sporty rear axle and the interior quality.
The Z06 seems to be the best of the three cars, while the GT500 is "far and away the cheapest way to get your hands on this much new-car horsepower" and the Viper is "physically painful to drive and its list of demerits is long and includes nasty interior pieces, tacky-looking gauges that reflect badly in the windscreen and outward visibility best summed up as awful".
Also interesting is seeing how the Z06 and the GT500 both had problems on the first day: the Vette for a broken gas filler cap that resulted in "limp mode" and the Shelby for some plastic T-connector in the cooling system that cracked due to overheating in the 112 degree desert heat.
