I've been trying to figure out what's missing on GT500 to complete the Shelby theme. Since the hood's design draws a lot of attention, one way to offset that is by adding window and side scoops which would be consistent with its 1968 design. The closest I can locate is Cervini's from their Eleanor version (scroll down for larger pics). Razzi and Dream Car have scoops but they are not a good match. The one positive I find is that both Cervini's scoops are secured by way of two sided 3M tape and do not physically alter or damage (drilling holes) the car's body.

Absoutely brother!! I am definitely getting those scoops. It would also would have been cool,if they put on the 67-68 shelby GT500 tailights, that would put it over the top for me! I also like the way the mustang gt concept had the flush look on their side scoops!

I'm not a big fan of the Cervini's scoops, I don't think they match up with the lines of the 05 Mustangs. I really like how the concept scoops look like. To me, the closest to resemblance of the concept mustang scoops are the Xenon and thats why I really like the Xenon scoops.

The side scoop expands all the way to the fender flair making it a little too modern and over done for my taste. The window scoop is not in the image and likeness of '68s.

I love Cervini's large, faux Halibrand wheels (they might actually improve the Shelby's looks) but I think the scoops may be one step too far; especially since we didn't get the full length tail lights.
My inclination would be to keep the Shelby fully stock, with the possible exception of the ride height, in the event that Ford screws that up.

I like the looks of the scoops, and it's good that there are no permanent modifications required. What do you think the two sided tape would be like at 155 mph???

It's not just the adhesive tape. There is an alcohol based solution for cleaning plus a chemical one applied to both surfaces to strenghten the bond. I have both scoops on my GT and they are solid.
Look at the scoops. Also something of peculiar interest. Look at what Ford called the models back then. Interesting.

I've pointed this out for a long time now. GT350s and GT500s were always known as Cobras.

... sorry to keep things off-topic
I remember reading that Shelby Mustangs were reffered to as Cobras after the AC Cobra Roadster went out of production in 1967.

George, I agree that some side scoops would be ideal for the retro cues of the car. I actually think the '07 GT/CS scoops would look the best

However you are pointing out erroneous information.
Back in the day, GT350s and GT500s were absolutely NOT known as Cobras.
The 2 seat Ford Powered Roadsters were called Cobras, the GT350 and GT500 were not.
The first transgression of the Cobra name was when Shelby sold it to Ford in the late 60s and Ford promptly started tacking the Cobra name on Torinos - NOT Mustangs.

That ad is for a '68 Shelby COBRA GT350/500.
My Mustang recognition guide also has a pic of a few '69s that were from ads. They all have "69 Shelby Cobra" plates on them.
On the other hand, he never refers to them as Cobra in the text. He calls the 65-67 "Shelby Mustangs" and the 68-70 as "Shelby GT350/500" I thought OBleedingMe said his original paperwork said Cobra on it for his Shelby.
Check this out:

I really find most of the side scoops too big for the lines of the car. Razzi ALL the way! I've yet to see better. I think they look more authentic because they "fit into the window hole" like the 67/68 scoops, and not "over the outer border of the window hole".....if yer reading what I'm putting down here........
I only wish someone would make some functional "vents' to replace the entire window unit and give a finished look to the interior of the car......anyone?..........anyone?
I do like the overall style of cervini's, but with the mesh openings (you can see the window through it on their web site) I think it would be a gigantic pain in the %$%#^@ to take off and clean the window at every wash.......IMHO.
Now, if I could just find a pic of the Razzi's to attach........

Yeah, I see your point George. I think Razzi most resembles the scoops on the "silver concept Mustang" which thinking about it for a minute, makes me wonder why no one has produced a closer knock-off of that design????

Unfortunately the Razzi window scoops simulate an inlet without an outlet. Otherwise their design is not outrageous and would be perfect

That's true,..good point! But I still like the"flush fitting" functional side scoops on the concept,..they look cool.

One more point of importance. I would consider the scoops but they would have to be from the same manufacturer which would likely have a matching design and shape.

I like those too, they look the same as the xenon.
