GT500 Order Guide
#22
So once again, does anyone know if the Comfort Group - Heated Seats, Homelink Rearview Mirror, 6-Way Power Passenger Seat - will be an available option on the Shelby.
From the description, it looks like no - which seems pretty stupid to me.

just going from the order guide (which is dated 10/05 and has some errors on it), I'd say no. The Premier int trim package includes electrochromic mirror, no mention of homelink (I hope it is though) and no mention of heated seats. The seats are likely 6 way power, they are in the older Cobras. I would think the top of the line would have those things, but, it isn't in the guide, yet.

My dealer said maximum GT500 production per year is 5,000 and 8 per dealer.
my dealer will price their gt500 coupes around 40-45k

Just today, SVT said 7-10k/year.

Yeah, that 7-10k/year number makes a lot more sense for Ford from a financial point of view.
Not that I would ever doubt the word of a dealer, mind you.

Well...if thats the case....they're going to have to make even more in order to pay the guys that hand build the transmission

Really, this kind of mis-leading the customers should be against the law. I hope that every dealer that pulls this kind of tactic ends up getting caught with their pants down and lose many, many customers over it. I'm sure they will blame ford for making too many when the customer comes back to complain about being mislead.

hey, don't get upset with the dealers. they haven't had anything to make money off of in a long time. this is their first change to actually price gouge a ford and they are doing it.
i was on a list with a dealer in new jersey. svt dealer in northern new jersey. some of you may know it. well i put a deposit down and i was going to use my college money on the gt500. there is a lot of money there.
well once the vehicle was officially announced my place on their list was suddenly "lost." i understand why too. no dealer who has had to sell his vehicles at invoice for the last 10 to 15 years is going to pass up an opportunity to make $20G's off of a single car. they finally have a chance to be super popular.
plus if ford builds more gt500's than there are people willing to pay the $20G premium, normal folks will be able to get the left overs.
i'm down for that. dealers make money off of the people who "must" have it "now" and i still get my sweet ride at a fair price before they ship me overseas! yay!

I understand what you are saying, but, I don't think you understood my post.
I have a problem with them telling customers that they will only get 1 or 2 cars and that there will only be a very limited supply of them period. This makes the customers feel like they won't get one unless they pay the premium. While, all along, they know the car is going to made to the tune of 10 or more thousand per year for at least 2 years.
It is the expensive lie that I am complaining about.

He said,"a maximum of 5,000 per year. That is because the transmission is handbuilt and requires more time to assemble which slows down production dramatically.

Total BS
The transmissions are not even built by Ford.
The GT-500 will run down the same assembly line as all other Mustangs at the same speed.
At least you now know NOT to believe anything this lier tells you.

Great...Thanks for that info. Now I know.

I called SVT yesterday and they said that the tranny's were one item that may limit production, but also reminded me that there are a lot of other things that can limit the numbers once production begins.
They confirmed 7000-10000 units for this year.
