In the other article they preferred the Challenger over the GT500 because they like the Challenger's interior better.
But the performance results were still the same- the Shelby out performs the SRT8.

article says the GT500 can be had with heated seats, is this correct? I didn't see this option when I ordered.

NO

You can't get heated seats on the Bullitt (GT500 seats) either.

It only matters to the vain who need constant reassurance and approval of what they have, not to those who know exactly what they have.

Motor Trend gave the Challenger SRT8 the nod over the Shelby GT500.

Last Saturday, I got to walk around a new Challenger SRT8. It was very nice. What really appeals to me about the car is that it is "new". Second, the styling is nice and it has a 425hp Hemi and 20inch wheels. What I didn't like about it was that it is HUGE! It also has the same interior as my friends Charger R/T. The car sits too high IMO, and it isn't very mean sounding either. Plus, its a Dodge!

I like the car, and it might be a good investment, but after seeing it, I still wanted a Shelby GT500!

I think the car's biggest fan base is/will be guys like myself who grew up with the original Challenger/Barracuda. That said, I also think it's great that like the Mustang, it looks like nothing else on the road. And finally, I know I keep hearing people talk about how "huge" the car is but, to be honest, the S197 is also "huge" when you see it next to many other cars. I remember when I had my custom Cadillac in a show last year, there was a brand new Roush Mustang sitting next to it and God's honest truth, the Mustang made my Caddy look small! The car towered over mine. I know it's really not a "huge" car but it has a rather tall, massive look to it. Wish I could find the picture I had of the two cars side by side, but it was on my cell phone and I deleted it. Thought I might have saved a copy but so far can't find it.

The Challenger SRT8 that I saw last weekend was at the local Classic Car Cruise. So, I had a lot of cars to compare it to.
The Challenger does sit high compared to cars like the GT500. Yes, I know the new Mustangs are much bigger & taller than the Mustangs of the past, but seeing the Challenger in person made me automatically think of the Charger & Chrysler 300.

I do like the car, and wouldn't mind having one, but I still prefer the Shelby.

That's where I stand. I'd own one, but, prefer mine instead.
