Fake GT500?

Saw a "Shelby Gt500" today in fayetteville, NC, the second I've ever seen with my own eyes, so naturally, i go look

it has shelby logos on every piece of leather, the shelby body kit, the logo, but it has this hood

it doesnt look right, it also doesnt have the snake logo on the front grill, and looks to be without the shelby serial number thing on the dash. is this just a really dressed up GT?

I dont think he's implying this car. He's just using it to show us what hood the car he saw had.

Don't let a V6 Pony grill confuse you as to what's under the hood. I installed a V6 Pony grill on my 07 GT as I think it looks better.

Yours looks great. I considered doing that before I converted my fogs to driving lights.
His has the bumper too, that's why I think it is a 6.

V6 Pony Grill, V6 Fender Emblems, Dark/Dull Alloy Gray Paint, Rear Spoiler Delete, Painted (not chromed) Wheels, Quiet Factory Exhaust, etc. Definitely a sleeper, which is exactly what I wanted this time around.

My last Mustang - on the other hand - was a bright Azure Blue 2003 Mach 1 with Shaker Hood, black stripes, wide Cobra wheels, rear window louvers, loud exhaust, etc. Everyone and their mother wanted to race me at every stoplight, or stop me and talk for hours on end. And the police always watched me closely and/or followed me around (never pulled over or cited for anything, though). Just got to be too much of headache for a daily driver, so I vowed to make the '07 GT blend into the scenery.

That is exactly why I had no issue going from an 03 GT vert to an 07 V6. Someday soon it will either be SC'd or turbo'd but I want to keep it as anonymous as possible. Everyone loves an underdog...or a wolf in sheep's clothing!

I, too, originally liked the GT fogs on the '05+. My all-time favorite Mustang model is the 1969's with the 4 big lights up front, so the '05+ GT's capture that look very well. However, the rest of the car looks more like a '67 or '68 Mustang (with '66 rear 1/4 windows), so to better complete that look, the V6 Pony fogs give the '05+'s more of a '65-'68 GT look.

There is something very special about blowing the doors off another racer who underestimated what my car has under the hood. Case in point - last summer at our local drag strip I lined up against a 2006 Corvette Z06 (505hp). The owner of this Z06 drag races his car often there, so I expected to lose. I launched hard and took him to the 60' line and even to the 330' line! By the 1/8 mile mark he managed to bridge the gap, but we were side by side (I'm doing 82 mph at the 1/8 mile mark, FYI). Then he proceeded to pass by me and whoop me to the 1/4 mile marker (as he should have). However, consider his amazement at not bettering me by the 1/8 mile mark! In a street race to 80 mph, I would beat him!!! He stopped over after the race in disbelief....

Cost of my car, including mods: about $28K.
Cost of racing for the day: $25.
Hanging side by side to the 1/8 mile with a Z06 with my sleeper: priceless!
