Cost of GT500

I was offered a GT500 @ MSRP is that a good deal?

I'm not so sure anymore with everything that is going on with the market and gas.

If this is a common practice now maybe I will pass.

It is a good price. Invoice is only 10% less than that and NO ONE is selling them for invoice that I know of.
If you want the car, buy it. Don't stress over a couple of grand on a car that has a $1300 gas guzzler tax.
The most that may happen in the next year IMO is that some used ones may come around for under 42K from distressed sellers.

I think it's a great deal. Usually you have to work it hard to get MSRP. Some people are still paying 2-20K over.

If getting a new one is important to you and you can swing it, pursue it. If not, wait for a used one being sold by a "distressed owner." Unfortunately, they will be out there.

Just came from a dealer in Orlando Thursday that was selling GT500s, Bullitts, and Shelby GTs at MSRP. There was only a 2K difference between the price of the GT500 and the Shelby GT. Both were verts so either 48K for the GT or 50K for the GT500. Having the GT500 sitting there in Torch Red was almost too much to wallk away from but I don't have a kitchen pass since an old lady hit my son's car and totaled it. Have to get him a replacement first so he can continue commuting to college.

I think someone's trying to step it up

You might have better luck trying dealers out of state but MSRP is not too bad.

When I was shoppping for one last year, this is what I was looking at....

Just went to a dealer today and they wanted 20K over to make it 68K. It's been there awhile. Still without markup it's about 19-20K over what a regular GT costs. As much as I love them I just couldn't get over that fact.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll let you know soon if I get crazy or come to my senses. I was only willing to make the sacrifices if it was an amazing deal. Most likely I'm going to keep my car. I just get CRAZY ideas every once in a while, we'll see how desperate the dealer is.

MSRP is becoming more common. That car won't be your only shot at that price. By the end of next years run (which I understand will be mid year), they likely will be coming down even more. With that said, if they don't offer an SVT version of the car in the first year or 2, they could go up as nothing like that will be available for a while. The used Terminator market has been strong as there was no SVT car for a while and then the ones that did come out were thousands above sticker.

I'd say buy it. IMO, the car is well worth the asking price. There is really nothing else like it available in that price range. The Corvette offers similar performance, but, much less "Cool".

If you aren't set on a brand new one there were several on autotrader with less than 5000 miles for 46k or less. I had a tungsten located in Tulsa, but my 06 didn't sell like I thought it would and I missed out on it. It had 2000 miles on it and sold for 45k!!!!!!! It still had the sticker and msrp was 48k and change. Man I wish I could have picked it up!

I was over a Brandon ford and they had a red G/t 500 vert with a sold sign on it so I asked the sales man what it sold for and he said $68,000.00 That was like 15,000,00 over?
