Canadians To Pay $1000's Less For GT500's
...and pigs will fly! Now that the Canadian and U.S. dollars are worth the same, the MSRP on GT500's should be almost the same, right? Wrong! Currently, the base MSRP (remember MSRP's!!) on Coupes built at AAI is almost $10,000 more in Canada. The Canadian dollar has been gaining strength against the U.S. dollar since 2002, but this has not been refected in lower prices on U.S. produced goods, and won't anytime soon. Can you hear the screaming from guys like me who bought 2007 GT500's if all of a sudden 2008's were thousands cheaper.
So, the new Camaros and Challengers are all being built in Canada. Watch how the mystery of free trade (?) and dollars at parity will somehow make them worth $1000's more in Canada than the U.S.
