X-plan and ford shares

guys,
not sure if this is the right section, but i have read in order to get the x-plan you need to own ford shares. does anyone know what the amount of shares you have to own in order to get this? is there a minimum number? i would like to purchase some if this will help in taking some more money off of the car i buy? when i get a new 2012 i want to use this if possible? any help??

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it's gotta be at least 100 shares, for at least 6 months.

is that a new rule? i bought $20 worth of shares about this time last year (i think at the time it was about $2 a share), and bought a new mkx in may (less than six mths) using x-plan with no problem.
BTW thanx jeff!

Luzstang,

I do believe it's a new-ish rule, yea. I believe if one was to read that entire thread (which is quite lengthy, so I don't blame anyone for NOT reading it), the change is talked about toward the end. Right now, with ford stock going the way it is, it's less and less of a good deal, buying shares to get x-plan. Now as for investment strategy, I'd say it's a pretty good stock to have, so figure that in too.

wow...i'm glad i got in when i did...i think it saved me almost 3k, not bad for a $20 investment. plus i got a $1500 rebate on top of that. though i could kick myself for not buyin more at the time, last i checked it was sellin at like $12...i've since been buyin more but not at that low price...good for ford anyway

"X-Plan" is also available to qualified suppliers to Ford -- the company has to be set up as an official "supplier" and then people can get an X-Plan identification by being a qualified employee of that company

I believe the shares program changed in that you now have to hold the stock for at least 6 months. Honestly it makes sense from Ford's standpoint.

If you work for a company I would check out their benefits page.
You would be suprised with how many partners ford has and allows them all to use X Plan.
