Wish I Hadnt Taken It 2 Dealer!

I had a cold brake squeak issue, would embarrassingly squeak 1st couple Xs braking in morning (pulling out of driveway, at end of street, & then good after that). But otherwise I LOVED the feel of the brakes - awesome firm brake pedal and great stopping in all situations! At 6200 miles, I Almost didn't bother, but eventually took in it to get it looked at under warranty. Dealer opted to replace my front pads, add some lubricant/anti-squeal between pads and caliper and "very slightly" skim cut the rotors. They had my car for 2 full sunny days that I could've been driving it, BTW, B/c they had to order the pads.

I am NOT happy because now in addition to greasy fingerprints on my wheels and once-shiny calipers, the brakes don't feel quite as firm as they used to, like I have to press the brake pedal just a teeny bit harder/farther for same braking force (as measured by my butt-dyno). So although quieter, my brakes/brake pedal feel is now only "average" to "good". It's VERY subtle, just enough to make me question my own sanity! I went through a bedding-the-pads procedure (4 or 5 hard brakings from 55mph to about 5mph, without fully stopping until brakes cooled back down). Didn't seem to help.

So what to do? I can remove the wheels & detail my calipers again, but am considering bleeding my brakes a little in case some air got in the lines somehow. Maybe he got some lube on the rotors? This drives me nuts! I have vowed to never again let any dealer touch my car, but I need to call them on Monday & provide a little "feedback". I should have just put up with the brake squeaking as I had been doing for the past year...

Depends on the dealer. If I had your complaints, mine would have been brought right back into the garage and fixed without questions. I took my 10GT in due to the battery terminal corrosion issue that's been discussed elsewhere here. When I got it back there were bits of corrosion dust residue from the cleaning in the engine bay and on the paint (Thanks to this forum I checked for that carefully!)

I even got an apology letter in the mail a few days later after they cleaned it all up.

They are going to take longer to start feeling good again, the rotor surface is still rough finish after the re-surfacing/machining of the rotors, which is no where near the finish of brand new rotors installed on the car from the factory.

Check your brake fluid. Put some in if needed or take it back and make them put it in. Even a little brake fluid can change the way your brakes feel. My guess is the changed the pads but figured theirs ones were to new to put fluid in.

Sorry. The old ones were to new to put fluid in. Sometimes I hate auto correct.

Brake fluid level was the first thing I checked. The reservoir was chock full, with some fluid on the outside of the reservoir which I wiped down (typical). So if anything it looked like the tech topped off the fluid.

I would have had the car back in there immediately but I picked it up late Friday afternoon, after the service dept closed, and had to go thru sales dept to get my key. They will hear from me Monday, but of course I'll be helplessly back at work.
