Wiring help!

Hi all, changed e-mail address and somehow lost my registration.

Can anyone identify the back up light wires in the taillight harness. Trying to attach a backup camera, and don't have a voltmeter that will register 12 volts. My guess would be green-white and black since they sit by themselves, but rather know than guess.

Thanks!!

I know the black and red are for the brake lights

Thanks dusman59. The diagram does not match the colors on either of my harnesses.

Not sure if the harnesses had been replaced with aftermarket before I bought it. It's a standard tail light assembly, nothing's been modded so not sure why the harnesses don't match.

Heres a picture of a GT harness, might not help but it appears to match yours.

Thanks Blown! If those two are the brake circuit then I can eliminate red since I bet black is the neutral. I guess I'll just try the others one at a time and hope I get one that works.

You need to check the colors on the other side of the connector. The colors between the connector and the lamp itself are not specified in the schematics.

The colors in the harness up to the connector are:
LEFT: green/brown = backup light power, black = common ground
RIGHT: gray/purple = backup light power, black/white = common ground

The other wires are not simply brake and turn signal power as they would be on most cars, they are tail light power and inboard, middle, outboard LED power for the sequential lights.

Thanks WhiteBird. Picked up a cheap 12 Volt line tester and was able to isolate the right wire. Thanks for the guidance. Kinda hot work in the Tampa sun.

So which wires were for just your reverse lights? I'm in stalling one as well and I have three wires coming from the camera - one that's connected to the AV line and then two power (one hot, one ground). I grounded no problem but don't know which of the other wires to tap into in order to isolate reverse lights so the camera works. Thanks!
