Window Rattle - 2012 GT Vert

Ok, this might not be the right place, but, I am requesting some ideas. I have just 3k miles and I have a new, annoying window rattle where the windows meet the convertible top on the driver's side. The alignment does not seem off and there is no wind noise. But, I get a rattle when I go over bumps. Since it's right by my ear, it's way annoying.

If I crack the windows down, just a smidge, the noise goes away. One friend has suggested I rub silicone on the top of the window. Other forum investigation suggests a trip to the dealer to check a "window guide bolt?"

Have any of you experienced this?
Any thoughts / recommendations?

I'd try re-calibrating the window first, if that doesn't work, let the dealer's shop have a shot at correcting the situation.

I've got the exact same rattle, in the exact same spot. Tried the silicone thing, and it worked for a while (even made a post about it - don't remember which forum exactly), but then it stopped working. Brought it to the dealership one time when I was getting other things done, but the mechanic didn't hear it. Oh well. Much worse in the cold.

The 08 I had also had a slight rattle in the same location. It would come and go actually. I just decided to only drive the car with the top down, problem solved!

It's a mustang. These cars are going to have rattles, squeeks etc. It's just The price of going fast cheap. I've fixed several dash rattles in the past 2 months.

Did the window re-calibration work NickDC123? If not, I recommend you and orgchem bring your vehicles in to your Ford dealer for diagnosis. Also, private message with your dealer, mileage, VIN, and contact info. I’d like to escalate this for you to help get it resolved.

1) THANKS so much the re-calibration idea, it totally stopped the problem!
2) I don't agree that rattles are just to accept ... I had an '05 GT Vert with 60k+ miles and it held together great
3) Compared to my '05, you can really tell how much more sound deadening they added to the '12 ... great job!
4) Deysha, thanks so much for your offer of help

One thing I've noticed with my car is that the door hinges aren't necessarily aligned properly. The doors themselves tend to rattle against the hing stops when going over bumps.

At speed, looking in the rear view mirror, you can see the door moving in and out slightly at the B pillar. This might be what you're experiencing as well, or it could be the root cause anyway.

I had a similar issue on my '12 V6. I took it in to the dealer and they found that it was a loose bolt in the rear window mechanism. But low and behold now I have a new rattle. Coming from a similar area, but I can't figure this one out at all. This one isn't as noticeable as the window rattle, it's like a loose piece of plastic somewhere.

Just wondering how common this is. I've owned the car for less than four months and am on my second rattle. Is this just going to be common every couple of months?

This may or may not be the same rattle I was having. But I discovered on my '11 convertible the vanity mirrors have a small rubber bumper. Not sure if its due to our Texas heat but the mirror covers become caved in and then the plastic starts rubbing on the convertible top header. I solved this squeaking by placing a small 1 inch round self stick rubber pad(found at HD or Lowes for furniture) on the spot where the bumper hits. now no more rubbing or squeaking. and its black so you dont see it unless you flip the visor down .
