Love the hips but lose the scoop. Personnally, I'd rather see a nice side scallop on the '09 Mustang rather than a side scoop. [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/thumb.gif[/img]

My guess is that with Ford hemorrhaging red ink, the '09 Stang will likely be a modest warm over of the current one with core body stampings remaining the same. Hood, front fenders, front/rear facias would be the main differences along with trim and colors. I would expect the interior to be much of the same level, though perhaps a touch more with upgraded materials.

Unfortunately, this would put the Mustang at a distinct disadvantage to what will be the new Camaro and Challenger, not only in terms of aesthetics, but also in other areas, notably the suspension and perhaps motors.

Of course, I could be all wrong on this (hopefully), and Ford will step up to the plate and do a more extensive freshening of both sheet metal, interior and mechanicals. However, given Ford's past history and recent financial bloodlettings, I have more than a few doubts.

The scoops were removed in the 1970 model.

I can't take credit for the hood, it straight off the 05 concept, I just thought it fit really well.

Only the '69 Boss302s, they're still on the '69 Boss429.

Not exactly, I doubt thay will follow that trend. But, if your theory is correct, let's hope that Ford doen't make another Mustang II. Not thatI don't like the body, its cool [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_cool.gif[/img] , but the engines stank.
So much for fuel Economy.

The '69 shelby mustang was not ugly (IMO), not even close, but I don't think it looked nearly as good as the 1968 and earlier. I'm not sure I want the 2009 to follow the 1968 to 1969 evolution???? I really don't see the point. I'd prefer ford keep building on the current look, but I'd prefer to see sharper more aggressive lines evolving from the current car rather than a re-interpretation of the 1969.

A '70 Boss 302 would be nice. The Shelby's had gotten a bit overdone by then, looking like giant cheese graters at the expense of the lithe, athletic roadracer look of the earlier versions.
