True that. The 2011 stang is truly awesome in every way. Huge difference from 2010.

I did know about the 11's. Being my first Sports Car, I still chose the 10 V8 over the 11 v6. Price did help alot 36,220 less 7500 in rebates & discount for 28,720. Color also was a factor. After adding a Supercharger, my 2010 has come ALIVE. I enjoy all the people looking and giving positive feed back on my mods. I wanted be "UNIQUE" with this STANG!

If Ford has 2010's on the lot, why would they go out of their way to advertise a 2011 with more HP? They'd be shooting themselves in the foot. They wanted to push the 2010's off the lot before promoting the 2011's. It would seem as simple as that.

I would have to agree with that. I would suspect Ford didn't want to push the upgrades on the 2011 because they knew the dealerships would have been stuck with 10's of thousands of them or have to give huge huge discounts to make it worth while to buy.

If you look at it from this perspective, why buy a 12 5.0 with 412 hp if knowing the 13 5.0 was getting 510 hp and was the same price range. Its a no brainer. Unless one can get the 2012 5.0 for 6 to 8 grand less.

I have yet to see a commercial for the new mustangs.....seen plenty for the F-150's and the edges and all the other cars just not the Mustangs or the Super Duties....I guess they figure they're both doing fine and don't need advertisement??? I found out through forums and the Ford site...and as far as your dealer goes...they just wanted to sell you a car then and there.

Nope, it's because Ford sells over 500K of the F-series, over 220K Fusions and they want to be selling 150+ Focuses and Fiestas, not to mention Escape and Explorer should both be that high too. Mustang is a 100K car per year, probably tops, and is the most niche model Ford makes. Because of that, it doesn't make sense to spend the insane amounts of money it takes to do mass TV advertising for Mustang - most of the other models are higher volume + higher priority. They spend money on more targeted efforts for Mustang because they think it's a better value. Hard to argue with that.

+1 to that. But it helps that the show kind of sucks. If it was good i'd be angrier about the 5.0's exclusion.

GM has done a great marketing job of the Chevy Camaro that perception is that car is bad a$$ and fast. Perception is even the v6 is fast and that's to people who aren't really into the sports car market or pony enthusiast. I would suspect that majority of consumers still have the notion that the mustang v6 model is a slow wanna be of a pony car. Ford has done little television adds to get the word out about the 2011 plus stangs.

In all fairness to GM had it not been for them upping the performance of the new Camaro, Ford would of not given the V6 305 or V8 412. Since early 2000's Ford has not increased the Hp that much. When there was no competition Ford had not raised the bar. Once Chevy was hot on the heals of Ford did Ford answer back with sheer perfection of the new upgrades. Thank goodness for competition.

What I cant understand that Ford allows GM to sell more Camaros than Mustangs due too not advertising the 2011-2013 Mustang.

I dont think Ford is too concerned about the Camaro outselling the Mustang. Ford is more concerned about the Mustang making money. For those who dont think GM does not advertise the Camaro, watch the Speed channel. GM shows the Camaro in camouflage going down a dragstrip and another add shows a Camaro in camouflage on a road course. The adds are shown frequently and mention the new Camaro coming in the Spring. The adds tout the launch control and magnetic handling package.

Not just a few more adds but an aggressive marketing program about the upgrades of the 2011 plus. A real push to let consumers who don't live, eat and breath on the mustang forums. I talk with people all the time about the newer mustangs and they have no clue the v6's have been upgraded. But they sure know about the new Camaro. Now why is that? Hum. Marketing maybe.

If you're into cars at all, I can't see how you wouldn't have found out the Mustang was seriously upgraded for 2011. I read reviews of it in Motor Trend, Car & Driver, Road & Track, AutoWeek, Automobile, Jalopnik, Autoblog, The Truth About Cars, Motor Authority, etc. etc.

I don't think Chevy does a lot of mass advertising for the Camaro either. People know about the Camaro for two reasons, IMO:
  1. Transformers: those movies were huge for Chevy and this car.
  2. It was gone for seven years.
Mustang's always been around and the look hasn't changed to the average person in going on eight years. When the 2015 rolls around, I'm betting people will notice a lot more.

I keep my cars until the wheels fall off, engine blows up or the car is not worth fixing. Lol
Yes, everyone knew about the 5.0 coming back for a long time! The 2011 commercials were all over TV. And before that, so were the 2010's. Ford had a great commercial with a 2010 GT where the guy revs the engine. Before that commercial, I never really thought about a Mustang! I bought a 2010 GT because of the 0% financing, and I didn't want a V6 engine in any shape or form. It's nice to turn the key and hear the V8 roar to life every single day like no V6 can That sound never gets old. Not only that, the V6 models still don't have the looks of any GT. I never regretted not waiting for a 2011, my car has never had a single issue, never a check engine light or any ticking noises.

I do wonder why Ford doesn't advertise the 2012's?? I see no commercials or anything for those. Hopefully they have some advertising for the new 2013's soon.

Never recall seeing any 2010 Gt commercial. Remember seeing one commercial about the v6 2011 and none for the 2011 5.0.

I hope they keep it this way! I like the idea that not too many folks out there know of the potential of this new V6....I'm having a blast doing the advertisement for Ford while out driving!

I like what Ford has done with the Mustang; I've always been an advocate of a V6, having owned a Buick Grand national back in the 80's, and now my F150 with a 4.2 V6 and my 2011 Mustang V6. I'm after MPG as well as performance, and this Mustang is providing me both.

Maybe it's good that I've never test drove the 5.0...I might have tossed the MPG out the window! However, I have a long commute to work each day, and with the threats of gas reaching 4 bucks a gallon, I have to stick with what works for me. Perhaps someday I can buy a car that gets played with on the weekends, and if that happens, I'll go with that V8.

I bet it could be where you live or the media you follow. you also have to remember that we have just as mant chevy people as ford people. The mustang has been out and the camaro is the new thing that came back out after being gone. That makes people want it alittle more.

also I would say the tv and mag ads I have seen are two to one in ford favor.

you also have to keep in mind that people are stupid and so it makes sense that they buy stupid cars. People know about the new fiat and every other tv ad is j-low in a fiat 500 so the whole show it on tv and they will come thinking doesnt work. How many fiats do you see on the road.

The absurd part about the Fiat commercials is not the actual Fiat. But people who think J Lo would actually drive a Fiat. Now that's just funny stuff. If people think to buy a Fiat because they will get a girl like j lo, I think not. Poke.
