If you have replaced the stock receiver with an after market one please post up a pic or two, I'm trying to figure out what I want to do, My friend is offering me a really good set of speakers for dirt cheap with 1-2 subs so I want to see what my options might be.
I have been searching Amazon.com, Bestbuy.com, and Newegg.com, but almost no one submits pictures of the install stall and before and after pictures.
Doesn't matter whether its just Stereo or DVD or Navigation. I would like to see all of them. I already tried searching here on the forums and couldn't come up with anything.
thanks much guys! and let me know how you like the products you bought and installed

Today's factory head units are so integrated with the cars electronic system, you're be hard press to find someone who has or will replace their head unit. Personally, I'm going to send the signals from the head unit into JL Audio's Clean Sweep, which corrects the OEM frequency before being amplified.
Once I get this all done (sometime in January), I will post pics and give my opinion on how all this sounds.

It's not as easy as it used to be. The dash kit alone is pricey compared to old DIN replacement kits from a few years ago. Not to mention, you've got Sync, so if you want to keep that, you're looking at another module (and $$$) to keep voice commands functioning.
Bottom line, you're looking at another $2-300 for parts (est.) to make a radio fit. I'd rather spend the money on the speakers and let the HU alone.
I see you're looking at picking up a set of speakers from a friend. Sounds like everything is a drop in, and the subs can be connected using a LOC (line-out converter) or, if you want, get some type of digital processing unit, like the RF 3Sixty.2 and install that to retain the stock HU and gain flexibility in the audio system.

Not only is it a costly pain in the ***. None of the dash kits look good for these cars that have the parts integrated. Unless you do an entire replacement in the electonics suite like one of the members did with an iPad interface, it's much easier to use the factory electronics and utilize a digital processor.
Decks aren't really built like they used to be anyway so sound quality isn't going to be what you want, the new processors are great, pricey but great. That's typically your best way to go. Replace the speakers, add a couple of amps and if you really care, some sound dampening in the doors.
