Where do the leaves and dirt go?

I have a 2013 convertible. I have seen leaves go down between the trunk lid and the convertible top - never to be seen again. Where do they go? Obviously dirt goes down there too. Is there a way to clean this area?

At the rear of the lip around the decklid, behind the taillights is a deep recess, that is where they go. Will be a nasty mess one day if you don't keep that space cleaned out.

Remove one of your front tires, then remove the screws that hold in the inner wheel well to the body fender. At the lower corner near the rearward fender ajacent to the door, push in; there's where you will find the years of leaves and dirt at the front. The rear area would be simular.

Found this when I had to change out an antenna on a 2005 F150...had to remove the passenger front fender well screws to allow pushing away the plastic wheel well to get at the coax that entered the interior. I could not believe the amount of leaves and junk located at this point of the fender/wheel well.

I've wondered this too. Not sure how you COULD clean it out really without disassembling half the car. Does it sit down in the well that the top folds into? They should make that fold open somehow so it can be cleaned out.

I had a '99 Mustang 'vert. I often wondered this. So this is why it drove okay in the winter, eh? -> all that extra weight in the back.

Non-vert question. Where do the leaves go that get trapped between the window and the door? Should I be worried or will they just break down over time?
