When Will First 2011 Test Drive Be?
here's that other thread:

yes they were talking high 13's . . . according to C&D, Camaro SS is 13.0 . . . so I guess I was being a little over-enthusiastic about the new 3.7L V6!
oh well, it's all good!

It's been a month since I first posted this. If we don't hear anything in the next 10 hours, 62% of us will officially be wrong. It's been a dry ~30 days, with nothing but pace car news to tide us over (boo!). I hope to see some first drives come Monday, but I'm now guessing it won't be until the 22nd. Lets hope production starts off without a hitch. I want to see some of our cars start getting scheduled!
It gives little feel from the road.I can live with it as long as its twice as good as my current car.

atvman posted this link over at BON:
"If you follow the link, it says that the First Drive of the 2011 Mustang will be posted "in two weeks" (posted March 10) and the full review will be posted on March 29. Mark your calendars and set your Blackberries, this could be the most anticipated Mustang review ever."

I read that too. Not sure how that would work.. It would be kind of weird for them to start production on a Friday..
edit: looked over on blue oval at plant schedules and flat rock is down for the weeks of march 8th and march 15th, so im guessing when they return on the 22nd job 1 will begin..hopefully.

Sorry to hear about your recall, but Ford did a very good job with the electric power steering on the Escape. Very easy to turn, road feel is still very present and precise. They will probably tune it differently on the 'Stang for obvious reasons.
From The Car Connection dot com link above:
"Set your Google Alerts now: in two weeks, we'll bring you the first drive of the 2011 Ford Mustang both here at TheCarConnection and at MotorAuthority as well. We'll post our review of the reborn 5.0 Mustang, live from Los Angeles at 12:01 a.m., Monday, March 29th. Then in April, we'll bring it all home with a wrap-up on the day the Mustang was born, April 17."
Do be aware that these will likely be pre-production models ("your results may vary"), with possibly perfectly tuned vehicles a little sharper than those that will arrive on dealer lots this Spring. OTOH, they may have been beaten like a borrowed mule before The Car Connection gets their shot at them--smoking clutches, scorched LSDs, well-worn tires, yada yada yada...
If it was GM providing their vehicles to automotive journalists for test drives, they could very well be blueprinted, have upped compression ratios, hotter cams, and quite possibly upped displacement and ring-&-pinion sets not found on the ordering guides--they've done this before back in the day. But journalists gotta sell magazines, so they don't do a great deal of inspection or verification that all is legit--they're just happy that the manufacturer provided a test car(s) before the publishing cut-off date for the next issue.
And that may not be 91 octane in the tank, either...

It's a 412 horsepower 5.0L V8 that features 6-speed transmissions (finally) and achieves up to 26 mpg. You really can't go wrong there, although there are some, I'm sure, that will find something to complain about. You can't please everybody, though, looking at how well the 2011 models are already selling, most people seem pretty excited!
Car companys cheating....no.....way
Remember when Honda released the new insight hybrid. They carefully picked the san diego area roads the journos drove on and got a wave of positive reviews. Sporty, firm ride, better than a prius ride ect.. It was only when the cars were driven over rought pot-holed streets that the truth was found out.
