When do you think Headers will become available for the 2011 V-6's. About how much Wheel Horsepower should we expect to see? I would like to go with 'Shorty' Headers.

 

Talking about performance, I would not expect much if any gains with shorties. I think with long tubes you might get 10-15 HP.

 

Don't waste your money, no gains for shorty headers on the V6.

Possible gain from long tubes but not worth it on a cost benefit ratio unless it is a max effort situation.

 

You could find a local shop to make you some custom headers and x/h pipe. It will cost you though. I would expect to see some nice gains with long tubes and an X pipe.

X-pipe is of no HP benefit on the V6, exhaust pulses in the 6 don't come in the right order to take advantage of it. Only thing the x-pipe does on a V6 is change the sound and in my opinion makes it sound more like an old farm truck depending on the mufflers.

 

Umm the new 3.7 has a factory x pipe guys and my car is the meanest sounding farm tractor you've ever seen

 

A lot of exhaust sound tuning was done on the 2011 V6.

I have heard plenty of earlier Mustangs with V6's and x-pipes and various mufflers and most sound like an old truck or tractor at idle.

 

I'm no expert but the x pipe helps out V-8s to do the an uneven firing order. This is not an issue for the V-6 so I don't see how an x-pipe would help with a V-6.

 

I never made a vid of my white 2010 4.0 that used a pypes bolt on x pipe with true 2.5" duals and n1 mufflers it sounded pretty mean to me&most that heard it but I guess its subjective to the observer and their individual aural preferences

 

The 2011 V-6 does have a X-pipe for the middle pipes according to Ford. I've looked at mine and looks pretty much like an X-pipe.

I don't want long tube headers and if no gain in power from shorty headers, i'll just keep it stock. I love the sound of my V-6, i just wish it was twice as loud as it is now but with the same sound quality. It is getting louder as i put miles on. With 600 miles on i have noticed the hum has gotten louder when compared to the day i picked it up from the dealer.
