Is Larry Shinoda Still alive???
Maybe we should bring him back to do his version of a retro 09 based on the 69-70.
I know the wish list sounds good for the heated and power seats and all, but if you want that and more.. get a second car!
Mustangs were about having fun, going fast and getting as much power out of an engine as you could...
let's keep the weight off it .give us a second motor choice a.k.a 5.4L N/A in a Mach 1 package,
flare out the haunches,
6 speed manual tranny and put the rocker panels back on with shaker hood
....and while we're at it don't forget the magnum 500's and 8 track radio...

5.4L GT, 6 speed, atleast 10 in rims in the back. Who were they trying to kid with those stupid little 235's in the back?

10" rims can fit front and rear.

I'd like to see "hips" as discussed before like the 67 and 68's had. Also a concave taillamp panel like the 67 and 68. I still think that was the best rearend in Mustang history. Maybe a hood with a bit more "going on". Let's see......... a LX stripper model with vinyl interior old style carpet and manual seats. Let's curb the weight to 3200 lbs. A 5.0 3 valve with 350 HP. Other than that I think the 05 and 06's are awesome. I just hope the 09's still will look like a Mustang.

Don't forget, we are the enthusiaists....which only make up a piece of the pie....
A lot of the wishes, we KNOW will never happen. Not feasible.
Wishing for a bigger engine and keeping the weight to 3200...
not gonna happen. Mind you, notice the trend with the weights going up ALL over the place, so the mustang will be no exception. Sad but true...
Wishes like 4.10s straight outta the box...magic 8 ball says
'No #@$^n way'
hahah
- Hips are a thing that has been stated will be on the car.
- Power Bumps are more than a given (unsure of engines/options)

I like the idea of offering a hybrid setup as an option.
Also, you can't throwback to the 60's mustangs without offering more two-tone interior color options. The '09 needs a few of those......(ex. light and dark blue interior like my '67, black and red like the GT500....and others).

The number one MUST for this car has got to be, get rid of the hollow feeling plastic interior. The seats are fine, the sterio is fine, the wheels are great, the dash gauges are awesome, but the cheap-cheap, triple cheap feel of the dash, center console, and door panels are a huge disappointment. They don't need to be leather, actually I'd rather it not be leather, but a better material is a MUST. I work for a Japanese company and many employees are from Japan or have worked for Japanese car companies, and I am sick of everyone saying how nice my car is and how fast it is, but man my toyota's/honda's interior is infinately better that this. Or, something like "yep this is an american car big engine, but nothing else". :bang:
Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way
Oh, and while I am wishing in never-never land, Could we please get rid of the drive by wire throttle. I know it's only a small hesitation, but I hate it with a passion.

9. Something I pray I never see in a Mustang is paddle shifting.....
If it's good enough for a Ferrari, I think we can get it in a Mustang.

It's a Mustang, not a Ferrari. A muscle car should have a stick shift.

Re: Hybrid Mustang. I'll try not to flame you too much.
I think there was a comment that ford wanted to have 1/2 their fleet hybrid by 2010 or something like that. It would certainly depend on the technology, but I have a feeling that like the front wheel drive question for the Mustang that has probably been asked often, the performance hit and issues with preserving the attributes of the Mustang with the new technology would be a big concern. I think something like a flexible fuel engine (Gasoline, E85, Hydrogen) like on the concept F-series pickup would be a serious contender. Infrastructure is key with these and is happening now... the hybrid is a good short-term solution, but the volitile oil market/problem could be solved with E85 and biodiesel..and even solve some global and political issues.
So far as wants for me in '09...I'd say some modern sheet metal changes, rigidity and suspension work and upgrades to electronics and systems of the near future. Audio/Video, GPS..stuff like that integrated that should be very very inexpensive in a few years.
...can't say I'd drastically change too much with the current Mustang. Changing the formula drastically would only do harm. Affordable, high performance, bang-for-buck fun is what Mustang is all about.

The best solution, IMO, to adding all these extras is to allow the base model Mustang to be ordered with any of the features or options of the GT. (except for GT badges)
That way if someone wants a muscle car, they can order the base Mustang with the upgraded engine. If they want a luxury car, they can order a GT.
Theoretically you could have a base Mustang that's exactly like a GT (except for the badges) only it would cost a lot more since the GT would package all those things together.
Oh, and don't call it an LX. Just do it the way it was done back in '65.

Brad, that's awesome that you were asking about a hybrid mustang. Glad to see other people on here see the market potential for such a car.
Ford said half their models would have an available hybrid version, they want to build 250,000 hybrids in all by 2010. The other options you mention are also a good call. I like hybrid technology (which could be incorporated with other technologies like different fuels and stuff) because recapturing braking energy and shutting off the engine at idle make a lot of sense. I just wanted to talk about the performance issue... Just look at the hybrid accord. Its the quickest accord available (sure its the most expensive too). I don't know the numbers myself, just google them. The accord hybrid is different from things like the prius and the insight in that they traded some of the fuel efficiency for performance. They built a hybrid V6-electric that gets to 60 in something like half a second quicker while returning mid 30's combined mileage.
I just think they could make a sweet special edition mustang, say a hybrid V6 with acceleration numbers somewhere between the V6 and the GT but with gas mileage in the mid 30's or something. If movie stars are all over the prius, they would probably sleep with a hybrid that's also a convertible mustang with hips!
So maybe by 2008, they'll have a rear-drive hybrid drivetrain set up and they could pop it into a mustang. Like i said, put the motors in the hips!

Did you two really say "Hybrid"? Please spare me, the whole hybrid thing is a crock anyway. There is no point in having a hybrid since there is no shortage of oil and our cars aren't doing damage to the enviroment.
Now that I'm done with my rant....
I want more power
6-speed trans
IRS would be nice but not neccessary
AUX in port
New colors

Another thing I would like to see: The windshield washer nozzles moved from the hood to the cowl. I am tired of getting drips on my hood and it seems that the wax degrades quicker in that area due to the alcohol in the fluid.
As for the hybrid Mustang, that truely would go with Ford's theme of "Innovation". I still don't know why Ford hasn't implemented Displacement on Demand on all there V8s. It's an available technology that increases fuel economy 10%. The Americans car companies need to focus on technologies to improve fuel economy!

- Tilt & telescoping steering column
- Lighted vanity mirrors on highest level V6 convertible, GTs with IUP and any SEs
- Parking brake moved to the other side of the console or electric parking brake
- More colored surfaces
- More color packages for seats/door trims/interior quarter panel inserts
- Better seats
Drivetrain
- 3.5L V6 or 4.0L V6 with 5 speed manual or 6 speed auto
- Larger displacement engine option on GT (5.4L or 6.2L)
- Larger displacement engine with SE (6.2L)
