What would you like to see?!

I would like to see the return of the "coupe" and "fastback". I wanted that for 2005. You know, make it look like the convertible shape, but only a hardtop. I think tthat would be neat, and do-able

Did you two really say "Hybrid"? Please spare me, the whole hybrid thing is a crock anyway. There is no point in having a hybrid since there is no shortage of oil and our cars aren't doing damage to the enviroment.
Now that I'm done with my rant....
I want more power
6-speed trans
IRS would be nice but not neccessary
AUX in port
New colors

I want to see the second generation Boss 429 V8.
- 6 speed close ratio
- a small block 429 V8 - a unquie motor for this car only.
- a superior handling upgrade
A second generation Boss 302
- 6 speed close ratio
- a street legal cammer 5.0
- a superior handling upgrade
- C stripe
A second generation Mach 1
- 6 speed close ratio // 6 speed automatic
- power packages ( 4.6 base, 5.4 mid, 5.8 high )
- a superior handling upgrade
- interior upgrades
Shelby
- Wide tail lights
- a GT350 ( super charger delete )
All Mustangs
- a full onboard computer that displays all vehicle indicators
- If a triptonic transmission is to be included; have both a paddle and a floor shifter. Have an "S" mode for more aggressive shifting.
- for the V6 stangs; that 250 Hp v6 motor that was mentioned before
- for the GT stang; you need a power boost and aggressive gearing to keep with the 400HP camaros, etc.
3 years to go .... sigh

I'd Like to see:
More Engine Options
Displacement on Demand
USB port on stereo for MP3 players to hook up direct
Lower base GT sticker Price
XM & NAV options
I dont want to see:
IRS standard if it means rasing base MSRP
I'd really like to see a 5.4 liter with Displacement on Demand that gets 27-32 MPG highway (Yeah, I know thats asking alot)

Cheaper, lightweight LX V8, with 5.0 OHC engine option say around 350 hp with room for N/A mod potential, fog light delete or maybe freshened front end, rear spoiler delete or ducktail, and hood with a little more character.

2Slack...
That is probably too many options...
BUT...
If the 'packs' are supported... like the Drag Pack, Handling Pack, Power Pack, FR4 Super Pack (Supercharger)
Than that would satisfy the need for speed....

Everyone's beat me to it but I agree that these are worthy upgrades:
Body color Mirrors
6 Speed tranny
Shorter or internal antenna
Better interior carpet (& some padding?) and better quality floor mats
Wider rubber & wider rims - at least 9" so we can put on 285's
Radio delete option. For many, aftermarket is the only way to go
Hood struts
Integrated body hips and ducktail
Fogs in the bumper, not in the grill
Displacement on Demand - and make it like TCS - if you don't want it/like it, just push a button and don't use it.
Telescoping Steering Wheel - one that moves in and out, not just tilts up and down

I would like Ford to offer all of these because they should pretty much be standard or at least optional on a base 2009 car.
-Displacement on Demand for V8
-6 speed auto with paddle shift and a 6 speed manual
-275+ HP for V6 and 400+ HP for V8
-Heated front seats and side mirrors
-Two Tone interior
-HID headlighs and LED tail lights
-Concept/GTR style tail lights
-Push button start
-All unlock/alarm controls in key
-Better interior plastics
-Navigation System
-Lighted vanity mirrors
-Sequential Tail lights
-Working Window roll down from keyfob
-Telescoping Steering Wheel
-Spoiler or ducktail option - better yet a ducktail built into the design
-18x9 Wheels on a GT standard, 19 or 20 inch optional
-Painted Side mirrors
-Dual Climate Zones
-Full power driver and passenger seat
-Rear Window antenna
I'll keep adding ideas as I get them. To be honest a lot of this stuff should have been optional because you can get in on a Mazda 3. It's fine that Ford wants to keep the Mustang at a cheap price point but give us that want a decked out Mustang the ability to pay for options that help Ford's bottom line.

AUX input is the biggest for me.
I agree w/a lot of the other suggestions, but honestly, I would prefer Ford keep the style great, performance up there too, but keep the entry cost down.
That is what makes a Mustang great - the everyman muscle car...I think stuff like a Nav. system does not belong in a Mustang...but that is just me. Heck, if I get lost that just means I get to drive my car more - and if I am lost and therefore going to be late, that just means I "need" to drive my car faster

I love the Audio In / AUX Port idea. Thats been a peeve of mine with every car i've owned up untill our 2006 Honda Element. Also having XM built in was a great benefit.

Displacement on Demand sounds cool,
HID headlights and LED tail lights
Concept/GTR style tail lights
T-tops, targa, or sunroof
a factory hood scoop for the GTs
a GTS option
make the rear gas cap funtional, or fully do away with it...
more options available from the factory... that way, ones who want it can get it, and the ones who don't can delete it...
the hybrid idea MIGHT be cool,
return of a true SVT Cobra
new, more aerodynamic mirrors
Those are some, I'll post more as they come to me...

Here is another: Memory Drivers seat. If I have to move the front seat, it take me forever to get the seat perfect again.
A Telescoping steering wheel would be nice too.
Ford should be implementing many of the features that we have listed across their lineup. Ford needs content to "one up" Honda, Nissan, and Toyota.

My realistic list:
Being that most of the development cost of the platform will be covered by 09, items like soft touch plastics, breakaway mirrors, integrated antennas, and possibly IRS should be completely absorbed to be included with the next car at no price increase. IRS will also reduce the weight of the car if they use it.
Ford clearly spend the money on platform and controlled costs by cutting back on interiors/breakaway mirrors/internal antennas, etc. Basically we got a great car in the 'white' for the money. Japanese cars go the opposite way, with little in the way of less substantial steel structure or drivetrains and suspensions not designed for any additional power and spend the money on plastics and electronics.
Biggest other change should be the D35 V6 and IRS.
A little bit better sound deadening
I really do not think the base car needs much else
I would avoid the stupid 'select shift' autos as this feature is one of the most worthless 'inventions' in recent years-its stupid. An SMG seems to be a little out of the mustang price range(save it for a Lincoln S197 coupe with a supercharged jag engine).
As for packaging, I think an expanded 'flexible' model above the GT would be great like a GTS or something.
Use the 5.4 NA aluminum motor
Include dual power heated seats with memory std and leather wrapped steering wheel, climate control, autolamps with auto dimming mirror, heated breakaway mirrors. Think a 'lariat' version of the Mustang. None of these options are new to Ford.
Offer highline options ala carte such as HID headlamps and NAV
This car would run about $34-37k
You can throw in an SE version of this car like the mach/boss with a shaker, and exclusive touches like the 04 had on the high-line 'GTS', but take away a couple luxury upgrades to keep it well under $38k
Keep a few apearance packages in the GT and V6 line like the pony, and maybe a Shelby GT350 in the normal 4.6 GT with maybe a gearset change, stripes, and interior 'retro' bits(think robbing them from the Mach).
The core S197 is a really good car, mostly it need some packaging changes which should not cost all that much more after a few years of good sales.

I agree the core s197 is a great car for the money.
I dont need SE models per se, but would like to see "Packages" available to upgrade a GT to a Boss or Mach 1. If these were addon packages to the base GT, shouldn't cost as much as to develop a SE model. The Bullitt was cool as a one time SE but we dont need more Bullits. Dont forget the old Cobra Jet either.
I would like to see the performance packages available from Ford Racing available as factory options, the Drag pack, Power pack, handling pack, etc.
I think a base GT with a couple engine options would be fantastic. Base 4.6 sohc, perhaps a 5.4 and 5.8. Yeah they will add to the cost, but face it, LS1 Camaros and Hemi Challengers wont sell for 25000 either. All NA is fine, unless the competion huffs a LS1 or hemi.
6sp manual and 6 spd Auto. I love the gear ratios on the 5spd auto, but an extra od would be nice cruising.
More aggressive front end. The body on the sides of the grille need to angle inward from bottom to top and outward from hood. Keep the front similar to first gen Mustangs, round lighs etc. Think Fang mystery 8 but not necessairly the hood.
Optional chin spoiler for front. Man aftermarkets are making a killing on body parts. would like to see the tail light panel set in more, again like the Fang trunk lid spoiler with quarter caps. Very nice touch to the somewhat bland rear. Also Ducktail rear spoilers. Cervani has one that is gorgeous from the back, but not intergrated well on the sides. Ford you can do it better.
Overhead console with interior lights on back and some much needed storage space for sunglasses, gloves cigeretts etc. Not to mention they are very cool. Perhaps the IUP should cost a little more and include this and a couple nicer touches as front footwell lights, and courtesy lights in the rear. Inside remote trunk release.
Overall the 05/06 GTs are great. Cant have every little thing and keep it 25K.
