What are some cool basic mods for a stock ~2013?

I was just reading this thread about removing a baffle from the induction sound tube to change the sound of the engine from inside the car.
The reason why the Induction Sound Tube is good

I've got a stock 2013 GT Premium. I still consider myself a beginner, and this made me realize there's probably a lot of small, not-too-difficult mechanical things I could do to my car to make it even cooler. But I don't know what they all are - let alone how to do them.

Best way to learn is to just do it! (carefully)

What are your ideas? If there's already a thread that describes the mod and how to pull it off, that's fine. It could be messing with something in the engine, changing out lights, I don't know. I'm looking to learn :-)

Edit: Also, I'm aware there is an entire subforum dedicated to modifications, but to be honest it's pretty tough to sift through and learn from.

Only mod I have made to mine is the sound tube insulation removal... That and personalize all the lights and what not... But that does not really count. I would like to add the GT500 axle backs... But my wife will kill me if I put any money in the car yet!

I recommend going over to americanmuscle.com and browsing around. Many, many options for Mustang customization and upgrades, it's really impossible to tell someone where to start.

I started with some fairly cheap mods besides the GT500 mufflers which were a must-have as far as I thought, and I still love them, especially now with the resonators deleted.

I started a thread on my mods, feel free to check it out and steal whatever ideas you may like

Hood struts for starters. MGW when you really want to enjoy shifting your 5.0. The GT500s are also money. That should keep you busy for now.

Well, I'm glad that at least a few liked that thread...

Functionality-wise, the Redline Tuning hood struts are a really great mod and less than $100.

All kinds of little stuff you can do, just keep looking around until something grabs you.

One of the cheapest and really cool mods I did was to replace the map lights with blue LED's to match Mycolor. I still don't believe all the complements I get from such an easy and cheap mod.

The first mod I did was used some Night Shades tint spray and tinted the corner light reflectors. Changed the whole demeanor of the car. Also the rear two reflectors in the lower valance.

For sound you can change the axle back to one you prefer. For performance you can order a SCT hand held with a custom tune and a Cold Air Intake. Suspension you can lower it or make it so you get better traction and less wheel hop. Tons of things you can do with these cars. You just need to know what you want to do first.

If you really want to wake up that Mustang go with the ROUSH Axle Backs, very deep and loud sounding. The GT500's are too raspy sounding and not much different then stock. Like the one gentleman said visit http://www.americanmuscle.com/11-13-mustang-parts.html

U got pics of them at night? I've been wanting to see some color map lights working. To the op, an easy mod you will love is replacing all the lights to LED. I've done the map, license plate and trunk lights. Really makes it look more modern all over the car for cheap

Just a suggestion. mod as you go as it fits your pocket. also do a mod at a time so that you enjoy all the effort/money you put into it. that's what i am doing. started with stripes and decals... enjoyed it for a month.. now lowered it.. enjoying it for another month... next is gt500 quad exhaust + valance... probably 2-3 months i would need to enjoy that for the money i spend what ever you do it will definitely make you smile more.... its like a kid playing with clay dough.

I changed my Map lights and trunk light to the red LED's and love it! I have been doing it back since I had my '01 Mustang! On that car though, I just took the bulbs out and painted them with a Sharpie (not as bright as the LED's obviously, but gives the same effect) and every time I took my car in for service, they would replace the lights with new ones! LOL!

I have the Roush axle-back too, it's the only mod I have done so far. Totally worth the money IMO.

A new cold air induction is always a good choice. Roush axle backs are great, but don't really deliver much power, unless you have a good exhaust manifold and mid pipe to help those gases escape. But between these 2 items, that's a great start. Suspension wise you can get some lowering springs for a more aggressive look.
Oh yeah,......and a tune.
