What is that noise???
What is that noise???
I heard it today for the first time. I had been driving for 20 minutes or so, the engine was nicely warmed up to operating temperature. I took off from the light. There was a nice downhill, clear stretch ahead of me. Shifted into 2nd gear, then into 3rd, and then I punched it. That's when I heard it. My wife even said, "What's that noise?"
The best way to describe it is that it was a bubbling, burbling sound. It was coming from under the hood and seemed to be located on the right side. It almost sounded like an exhaust noise, but not nearly as loud. I let off on the gas and slowed down, then punched it again, and it returned like before.
Five miles later, I decided to try it again, and the sound didn't repeat itself.
Has anyone experienced this strange noise? If so, do you have any idea what it might be? My car is a 2012 GT with the MT82 and totally stock with 13,500 miles on the clock.
Thanks for any input.

You should have your dealer check it out. Your service manager is in the best position to let you know if there is any work needed, coverages, recalls, or assistance available. Let me know what they say.

I hadn't considered the fuel possibility. I only have about 1/4 of a tank in there, so that might be the cause. Does Ford recommend any fuel additives to take any water out of the gas?
And thanks, Deysha. If it doesn't happen any more for a while, I'll mention it at my next oil change. If it does happen again, I'll make a special trip and see what they say.

Take it to ford, or just put the car back under a load and hit it and see what you get.
There are lots of fuel stabilizers on the market. Probably the most common name is Sta-bil.
sounds like the exhaust note but not near as loud and is coming from under the hood? sounds like youre hearing the air intake to me. i have a aftermarket intake and my intake note is way louder than the exhaust inside the cab when i get on it but only at certain rpm's.

I think he needs Heet to remove moisture after the fact.
Or just add a tank of fresh fuel and drive.

HEET® brand is the #1 Selling Gas-Line Antifreeze & Water Remover. It removes water from the fuel system to prevent gas-line freeze-up and harmful rust and corrosion. ISO-HEET® brand is the #1 Selling Premium Fuel-line Antifreeze, Water Remover & Injector Cleaner. It absorbs 5 times more water than regular gas-line antifreeze, while it cleans fuel injectors and carburetors. It’s designed for use year-round in ALL 2-cycle and 4-cycle gasoline engines and diesel engines.
