What the hell is that?

The mysterious foam pads have already been an issue in the 2005-2009 section but I'll address the topic again anyway: I took the bastards out today when I accidently saw them lurking out of the fenders. If they really serve any purpose, then I ask myself why Ford isn't able to attach them properly to where they belong instead of simply stuffing them in there hoping that they grow hands to hold themselves in place...

Wasn't Ford bragging about how the engine bay is now more quiet due to better sound insulation? Is this some of that "better" insulation?

Now that's the question, I'd really like Ford to answer... I mean, how expensiv can it be to attach these insulation pads properly???
