What do you think of the 2010+ body style now that has been out for a while?

Obvioulsy this is a 2010+ specific forum so most of us presumably like the new shape of the Mustang...but only now has the design really had a chance to sink in since has now been kicking around for wo years.

So what do you think of the current shape?

Do you think the lines will look good years down the road or will it look dated?

Has the rear treatment become and less (or more) objectionable to those of you guys with a strong opinion?

Do you think it will age better or worse than the previous ('05-'09) body style?

Assuming that nothing drastic changes in the world over the next 30-40 years (and people can still drive cars!) do you think this body style in particular will be regarded as a classic?

Any thoughts, opinions welcome!!

I really liked the rear of the 2005-2009, but I just ordered a 2012. Like all the other changes over the years it will be accepted. Curious what they will do in 2014... As to it being a classic 40 years from now, I am sure it will be, just as my '65 & '67 Fastbacks are

I loved when the 05-09s came out. Great retro. Now the 2010+ is even better, and I'm starting to think the 05-09 looks dated.

I kinda like it... hehe

I especially like the front end and hood of the new ones. The only change I want to make on the front is to add the CS front valence, just saving up for it.

The rear is interesting... I'm not sure why they made the center of the trunk lid curved (presumably for an aerodynamic reason), but it doesn't really match the flat sides of the tail lights, imo. I am okay with the "wrap-around" tail lights, but I do think the lower valence/diffuser/bottom part could have been done better... just not sure how.

I also like the new rear quater-panel "hip". I'm working on ideas for stripes or graphics that I want to do there.

I like the current shape, but honestly, I liked the rear end treatment on my '07 CS better. I am not happy with the design of the trunk lid...what the h#ll were they thinking. When I first saw the panel between the tail lights, I thought the car had been in an accident.

The addition of the shoulder line, to the rear quarter panels, has given the car more personality then the previous model, with it's straight line from front to back. It looks sexier.

How they age depends on what the next gen looks like. If it makes the current model immediately look dated, then I don't think it will age as well as some of the other model years. I also find it interesting the car does not reflect the name Mustang anywhere on the outside, but everyone knows what it is (unlike Challenger and Camaro who plaster the names all over the car). This speaks well for the overall design of the car and how the current design elements are tied into past designs. This may keep it from becoming quickly dated, since it is an extension of past years.

Will it be a classic in 40 years...who knows, maybe if you can still buy fuel for it

I like hips, would like to see MORE definition to them. The trunk opening is a joke. Looking forward to the next gen, as was mentioned hope they don't screw it up. BTW.....most people don't like change anyway lol.

I have been a mustang fan since I was fifteen and until 2005 the only mustang I really liked was the first generation from 64 and a half through 73. When ford re designed the mustang in 2005 they brought the past back to life. With the 2010+ I really think Ford has hit another home run. Whether or not its a collectible, we won't know for many years.

It's still a Stang, but the rear just makes the '05-09's that much better. Just kidding, they're all awesome. They can't all be the same. Never met a Stang I didn't like... sort of. (II)

I think it's awesome. The hood, the grill, the hips, different wheel designs, etc. There are so many nice angles on this body. It adapts well to aftermarket mods, too. Don't like the factory spoiler, air dam, quarter windows, whatever? There are lots of aftermarket choices.

I actually prefer both the foxbody (LX) and 99-04 to the 05-09. I actually was waiting for the 05-09 retro style to polish up (to the current style) before I purchased again. Didn't care for it at all. The '11 will be remembered for a long time as a benchmark because of the amazing power and fuel economy squeezed out of the 5.0 and V6. If we are all riding bicycles in 2050, I will remember this car far above all the others.

I loved the front from the first time I saw it, took a month or 2 for the rear to catch on, but I like the way Ford did it. OMO it has better lines the the 05-09, but I still like the way they look also

At first I was bummed about the tail lights when they introduced the 2010 ... but since I've owned one for 12 months now ... it has grown on me and I have no problem with the look anymore ... Actually the 05-09's look dated to me now ...

I wasn't keen on the rear, even when I bought mine. I fell in love with everything else immediatley though. Now, with my current mods the rear has become one of my favorite parts believe it or not. I think this and the 05-09 will both age gracefully and both will be classics down the road someday.

This!

Needed an overhaul, but I love the finished product.

Here's a comparison or my '05 rear and my '11.

The '05 is very plain to me now.

I love everything but the rear but that is growing on me. GT500 spoiler and diffuser really help.

Honda rear end. And *REALLY* disappointing how the tail lamps don't flow with the back panel's curvature. And the diaper.

They really really were doing too many things and that busy-ness detracts from the car significantly for me.

Otherwise, the car's quite excellent, and if I could have the '06 rear on them, they'd be **** near perfect with the 5.0.

/Oh, and rehashing this again, are we? Neat.
//Way to bring it up.

Unlike most people...I really liked the rear of the 2010-2011, I thought it was a great improvement! I figured it was just the 05-09 owners that disliked it but I guess I may just be the minority. It just looks so much more appealing to me. With stricter emissions I wonder if power will decrease in the near future...if so it should make both body styles memorable.
