So I'm about to buy either the Roush or Bassani axle backs. But that doesn't give any HP. An X-pipe would? also how much louder would it make the car over just the reg AB's? Is a tune required for a x-pipe? And lastly what is the best x-pipe?

Do yourself a favor and pull the trigger on a set of Roush's. They sound amazing man!

Don't quote me, but i recall hearing from more than one source that you may even lose power using some x-pipes, compared to the stock H.

Another vote for the Roush A/B's. You will love them!! If you end up going with a off road X pipe, just be warned that your car will be very loud along with the Roush system. Go on youtube and look for some videos, there should be some samples to check out.

You will need a tune if you delete the stock cats. But if you go catback you shouldn't need one.

I ran SLP's catted X-Pipe on my supercharged '07 GT. My ET's in the 1/4 mile improved by 2 tenths as the factory exhaust was a bit restrictive with the blower on the car. Naturally aspirated cars might not see as much improvement.

I'd say youd get a lil more HP. but the sound will be much louder.

I have the Corsa X-pipe with Corsa Extreme A/Bs. Without it (the X-pipe), the sound was raspy and somewhat obnoxious. Once installed, the sound is greatly improved.

When I dynoed my car with 87 and no other mods, the X-pipe & A/B combo netted me 10-12hp over what people expect to see with the stock system. IIRC the X-pipe allows for better flow than the H-pipe design.

From what I've read - you can expect a few horsepower from replacing the factory h-pipe with an aftermarket x-pipe (mind you, you can't really feel a 2-5WHP difference). Much larger gains are to be found by removing the cats though - so if you're going for power, an off-road xpipe would be the way to go. This will, however, require a tune. A tune isn't needed for anything cat-back.

also remember "off road" means "not legal for use on the road"

No, that's like saying using a rubber is just as good as without.

It shouldn't increase the exhaust volume any with an X-pipe. It will just change the tone some. An X-pipe usually gives it a little more of an "exotic" sound, where the "H" makes the sound deeper. The old adage of use on Mustangs has always been use an H-pipe with chambered mufflers, and an X-pipe with straight-thru mufflers. Those combinations yield the best overall sound. Exhaust sound is a very personal thing though... what sounds good to some, will sound like crap to others.

Xpipe has no cats and made my cobra twice as loud.
