I always thought hood pins were required if you had a fiberglass hood to keep the thing from flying off.
I would spend 1000.00 on a nice hood and have it painted.

1. SHR flush mount quarter window louvers
2. California Special airdam, but not grill
3. Paint the rear valence and grill surround body color
$1000 won't do all three, but you can probably do any two of them.

The car looks pretty good stock and does not seem to take well to all the do dads the 05-09 did. I like the GT500 rear spoiler and valance. A nice chin spoiler and then look into some nice wheels. Thats all i would do. The louvers and scoops just do not fit the body style very well.

Back to the regularly scheduled topic of if you had a $1000 to spend on mods, heh. I am leaning mostly towards graphics of some sort, a spoiler, possibly some wheels and springs, or maybe a nice front fascia... So many options...

I would def. look at getting the GT500 spoiler.
It is sooo nice.
Anyone know how much those are going for these days?
Also, I know its more than $1000, but painted on stripes would be nice.

My take on hoodpins is simple: unless you're building a car that you can pull the hood off of frequently and easily, they're useless. Most of the general public know that on a modern street car, hood pins are an appearance part. They know the hood latch is sturdy enough to hold the hood in place for daily driving, so why put some tack on junk on the car? While you're at it, go to Pep Boys and pick up some stick on fender vents or stick on exhaust cutouts on the rear quarters. Same mentality...
Now, if you pulled up with a huge cam and a 4" cowl hood on street slicks, then it might be a different story.

SHR louvres, MRT '68 hood. With the heat extractor vents you can skip the hood pins.
Edit: Ooops.... didn't catch this was a ten thread. Never mind.

I've heard that the hood shake was a bad thing with the 05's and up. I'm glad that they've fixed that. It shouldn't take hood pins to fix a factory issue.

Had the car 9 days, it's been tinted and my cdc chin spoiler, billet upper and lower grill are sitting in the garage. My SHR flush mounted louvers are on order, hopefully a week or two. Should be just a bit over a grand. Should also look good.
Still figuring out what to do with paint/stripes????

#1 is tint for sure
#2 springs and panhard bar
#3 decklid blackout (either a plastic, double sided tape-on, or better yet a custom cut of vinyl from your tint shop)
3 simple steps, less than 1K and one sweeeeet lookin ride
